When you first stumble into Sea of Stars, you might think it’s a relic from the 90s you somehow missed. But you didn’t. The game did come out in 2023, and Sabotage Studio doesn’t have any sort of prequel under its belt. They bottled up classic RPG vibes so well, you’ll question if you’ve slipped into an alternate reality. Wink, wink.
Sea of Stars nails character design—from the main heroes to the tiniest creatures in its bestiary. And if you’re still reeling from its epic story, snagging a preorder of Sea of Stars: The Concept Art of Bryce Kho might just be the cure for your post-adventure blues.
Over 90 Sea of Stars Character Designs and 272 Pages of Lore

Damn, Sea of Stars. You’re checking off all the right boxes.
Sea of Stars: The Concept Art of Bryce Kho invites you to revisit the lore of the classic role-playing game with retro-anime-inspired illustrations by Bryce Kho.
Bryce Kho is a California-based artist who has worked for Sabotage Studio ever since the studio released The Messenger. I strongly advise against visiting his Instagram profile if you’re a fan of Pokémon, Ghibli Studio films, or Cowboy Bebop. Or else, you’ll lose an entire afternoon of productivity. Take it from someone who’s learned the hard way.
When you’re ready to lose more than just an afternoon, you can pre-order Sea of Stars: The Concept Art of Bryce Kho for €35,56/£30,00/$38.19. Shipping is free if you’re in the UK or the US.
Just from the sneak peeks, it’s clear this book deserves a spot on your shelves. Flip through and you’ll find black-and-white and full-color artwork showcasing Valere, Zale, Seraï, Garl, and the gang. But it’s not all about our heroes. Common enemies like the slimy Luslug, and even slimier bosses like the Giant Slug Boss get a dedicated section too.
If you’re looking for a keepsake to commemorate the great times you spent with the Children of Solstice —be it defeating the wicked Fleshmancer or hunting for Rainbow Conches— Sea of Stars: The Concept Art is it.
