Fortnite has had plenty of major crossovers, and now Pomni and Jax from the hit web series The Amazing Digital Circus are officially coming to the Island. It seems like Epic is willing to add pretty much any big pop culture character to its massive multiplayer battle royale, from Doctor Doom to the Power Rangers, and now two indie animation icons are joining the fray in an unexpected and potentially groundbreaking development.
A quick recap for those who don’t know: The Amazing Digital Circus is a CGI animated web series from Gooseworx and Glitch Productions starring a group of people seemingly trapped as avatars in an old computer game – where a cartoony AI forces them to go on various madcap adventures that put their very sanity to the test. It’s a surprisingly deep show that deals with some pretty gripping themes, and has gained a massive fandom ever since it started in 2023 – so much so that its final episode was recently shown in theaters ahead of its planned YouTube airing next week.
Pomni And Jax Are Coming To Fortnite On June 12
There have been rumors of a Fortnite / Amazing Digital Circus collaboration, and now Epic has announced that characters and elements from the latter will be added on June 12. This news comes in the form of a funny animated trailer in which Caine (the aforementioned AI) reveals that Pomni (a harlequin jester) and Jax (a cartoonish purple rabbit) are coming to Fortnite – but not before physically stretching poor Pomni out when she notes she isn’t as tall as the usual Fortnite character.
She and Jax aren’t the only ones making the trip, as Caine also transforms Zooble (another player who is best described as being made out of children’s blocks and Tinker Toys) into a Pickaxe – leaving the last member, Gangle (who is made out of ribbons and theater masks), alone to sulk in the fact that she wasn’t invited to Fortnite. Meanwhile, the ever-nervous Pomni is being chased by other players, while the mischievous Jax wastes little time making himself at home by chopping down trees with Zooble (complete with cries of “ow” following every hit).
Pomni and Jax are probably the most popular characters in The Amazing Digital Circus, so their being the show’s representatives in Fortnite only makes sense. The fact that this crossover is happening at all is the bigger story here, serving as another testament to The Amazing Digital Circus‘s breakout success. Indie animation has only grown more prominent in recent years, so perhaps this new Fortnite collaboration could lead to characters from shows like Hazbin Hotel or Glitch’s own Gameoverse dropping onto the Island in the future.
