Cozy Care Combos – LUSH’s New Hello Kitty Collab is the Perfect Way to Savor the Moment

Since I was in college, I’ve been a huge fan of LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. Stepping into one of their stores is like a mini self-care retreat for me, and I always have at least a few go-to staples on hand. But in the last few years, I’ve been even more delighted as LUSH expands into doing fun pop-culture collabs with its products. Did I immediately run out to secure my own Yoshi egg bath bomb with that Super Mario Galaxy collab? You bet I did. But one of my favorites so far has been the Hello Kitty lineup. Naturally, I was thrilled to see it’s making a comeback, this time with some exciting new products in the mix.

The LUSH x Hello Kitty and Friends collaboration returns to the LUSH app on June 16th and will be available in stores and online on June 18th. The lineup centers on products inspired by Sanrio’s core values of kindness, friendship, community, and inclusivity. And of course, they look adorable and smell great, too. I had a chance to check out a few of the products from this new lineup. In the spirit of self-care, I’m here to pair each of these lovely bath and body products with the ideal relaxing activity. From book recs to video games and more, here are some ideas to make your time with the LUSH x Hello Kitty collab extra restorative. And dare I say, a little bit fun, too?

Pompompurin Shower Jelly – A Pudding Surprise That’s Perfect for Your Next Baking Sim Obsession

Scent: Vanilla Pudding & Coconut Cream

This shower jelly is actually shaped like Pompompurin. It’s absolutely adorable and delightfully jiggly, really resembling the pudding it’s scented after. When I opened up the tin, I was immediately reminded of a delicious ice cream sundae. Naturally, that made me think about one of my favorite go-to ways to unwind: playing a cooking sim. It’s a perfect fit for Pompompurin, too, since he is always ready to enjoy a great snack.

There are a lot of great cooking sims out there, of course. But for me, this shower jelly reminded me of playing Papa’s Freezeria, which just so happens to be available on Steam or as a mobile game. So, my suggested ultimate self-care routine for this shower jelly is to take a nice, relaxing shower with this jiggly delight. Then, settle in for some banana pudding-scented time serving up frozen treats.

Pochacco Dusting Powder – Dust Off After Your Next Audiobook Walk

Scent: Banana Ice Cream

Pochacco loves ice cream, but he also loves to move. This energetic character is perfect as the mascot to a dusting powder, which can help you dry off after a nice workout. That makes it a perfect self-care product to pair with a nice, long walk. And there’s really no better way to make a walk even more refreshing than listening to a great audiobook while you move.

I’ve listened to my fair share of excellent audiobooks, so it’s hard to narrow in on the perfect choice for Pochacco’s banana-scented dusting powder. But I think I’ve got to go with a solid summer read, because it pairs perfectly with the scent of banana ice cream. Grab anything by Katherine Center on audio, because Patti Murin’s audiobook narration cannot be beat. My go-to? The Bodyguard. Bonus points if you bring a friend along in the spirit of Hello Kitty-style friendship.

Gudetama Shower Gummy – A Lazy Bubblegum Haze for Your Next Cozy Gaming Session

I love every product in this collection, but I actually gasped when I unboxed this Gudetama shower gummy. Chasing down all the Gudetama is my favorite activity in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I just love these lazy eggs. And the shower jelly has a delightful orange and bubblegum scent that’s perfectly sweet for a nice shower or bath before you settle in to play your favorite cozy game. I love the extra detail that the white of the egg is firmer than the delightfully squishy Gudetama yolk, too.

Because I associate the Gudetama so strongly with Hello Kitty Island Adventure, I have to take the obvious pairing here. After a relaxing shower or bath with this shower gummy, kick back with your Nintendo Switch and a copy of Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Then you can seek out plenty of cute Gudetama in-game after hanging out with one IRL.

U.SA.HA.NA Bath Bomb – A Ray of Sunshine That’s Perfect for Sinking Into a Good Romance Novel

Scent: Orange Sherbet and Champagne

Ushana’s LUSH bath bomb is as colorful as she is, with beautiful blues, pinks, and purples on full display. I love a bath bomb that smells like dessert, and this one delivers. It’s got a combination of orange sherbet and champagne scents that honestly remind me a bit of Sweet Tarts. Of course, with an uplifting scent like that and Ushana’s sunny disposition, I immediately thought about one of my favorite romance tropes: grumpy x sunshine.

So, I’m pairing Ushana’s bath bomb with one of my very favorite books: Well Met by Jen DeLuca. Reading in the bath is one of my go-to self-care activities when I need to unwind. And if you prefer audiobooks, you can listen to those while soaking with this sweet treat in the tub, too.
