If you want to hit the final level for your tool upgrades in Moonlight Peaks, you’re going to need Gold Ore. This mineral is also the only way to upgrade your Fishing Rod, letting you reel in those tantalizing big fish. But Gold Ore is pretty tricky to come by and likely won’t unlock until mid to late game.
You can find Gold Ore in the Cave of Echoes in Moonlight Peaks. It’s the same basic location as where you get both Copper and Iron Ore. However, you won’t be able to access any of the areas where it’s found without a few required upgrades. Here’s everything you need to know to find and mine Gold Ore in Moonlight Peaks.
Where to Find Gold Ore in Moonlight Peaks

Gold Ore deposits are tucked away in hard-to-find areas in the Cave of Echoes. This is the cave located on the far side of Misty Shores. So far, we’ve only managed to find one of them. The earliest place you can get Gold Ore in Moonlight Peaks is a small strip of land on the other side of the underwater lake in the Cave of Echoes. To reach it, you need to unlock Mermaid Form.
Once you can swim in the waters, head to the far region of the Cave of Echoes, where you can fish in the lake. Then, swim across the lake to the other side. You should find a few Gold Ore deposits here, which you can start saving up to make Gold Bars and upgrade your tools.
We believe you’ll need Bat Form to reach the other Gold Ore deposits in the cave, and we will update accordingly once we unlock that feature.
How to Mine Gold Ore in Moonlight Peaks

To mine Gold Ore in Moonlight Peaks, you need the Iron Pickaxe upgrade. This can be obtained at the Howling Hammer, using the following materials:
- 4,000 G
- 1 Copper Pickaxe
- 3 Iron Bars
Bring these items to Ridge, then trade them in to upgrade your tool. Unlike some farm sims that make you wait, you’ll be able to use your new Iron Pickaxe immediately. Once you have this upgrade, you’ll be able to mine both the small and large Gold Ore deposits you find in the Cave of Echoes.
