I have become a Sennheiser loyalist in the last year. My experience with the Momentum 4 headphones is unrivaled, and they go with me everywhere. However, my one big struggle has been the audio compression drops when using the headphones with my phone. Gone are the days of audio jacks, and with Bluetooth as my only option, even applications like Tidal have quality loss.
This is where the BTS 700 Bluetooth Dongle comes in. This little attachment has changed my entire portable music experience, and I am blown away.

Sound That That Insulates Your Space

Sennheiser headphones deliver an unrivaled type of sound. It’s rich, full, and alive. However, all headphones have their limits, and compression is definitely the enemy of the Momentum 4. I typically try to use mine wired into my PC tower, but this doesn’t do any good when on the go.
One of the biggest hurdles for an audiophile is audio compression. With almost every phone and tablet designed without an audio jack, listeners are forced to deal with Bluetooth, which automatically drops sound quality.
The BTD 700 Bluetooth Dongle takes this issue and banishes it, turning any personal device into an audio wonderland on par with a wired-in music session. The BTD 700 utilizes aptXL Lossless and Auracast technology, altering how music sounds when connected via Bluetooth.
To use it, the Dongle must first be connected to a PC to download the firmware. Then it can be plugged into a phone or tablet via the standard USB or charger port. The headphones are then connected to the USB Dongle via Bluetooth.
Once connected, the dongle is capable of delivering sound up to 24-bit and 96kHz. This is twice what the standard sound on Spotify will deliver. Because of this, I would highly recommend downloading and subscribing to Tidal, which has the ability to deliver song files that can play at the sound capabilities of the dongle.
Once set up, I was completely blown away by the sound that came from my headphones. On my PC, I could switch between the standard Bluetooth connection and the Dongle, and without the BTD 700, it sounded like the sound was being played from inside a box. I’d never noticed before, but once I’d heard the difference, it completely altered what I expected from my headphones.
Yes, It is That Big of a Difference

The sound is completely different while using the BTD 700. The isolation of every note is enough to completely boggle the listener. When listening specifically to Taylor Swift’s Midnights, it was like I’d never actually heard any of the music before. I could hear every breath she took, every shift of a guitar chord.
The bass is reality-bending. If you listen to anything by Imagine Dragons or Fallout Boy, the drum kit and bass envelop you. The 360 sound and noise-cancelling technology drown you in concert-level audio. It shouldn’t be possible to get the type of sound without a headphone jack, but the BTD 700 does it, and it’s indulgent beyond description to be sitting on a plane, bus, or train listening to music so crystal clear and consuming that you can forget where you are.
Final Score – 9.5/10
If you have made the choice to spend the money on the Momentum 4 or any other expensive headset, spend the extra $60 on the BTD 700 Bluetooth USB Dongle. In my opinion, this isn’t an accessory; it’s a critical and completely affordable way to revolutionize your listening experience.
This can be paired with a more affordable headphone option like the Accentum Wireless headphones or the Accentum True Wireless earbuds to boost the sound into a premium bracket.
The BTD 700 is a must-have for any big music listener. There are no downsides, just blissful sound, clear notes, and one of the best music quality brackets I have had the pleasure to enjoy so far.
