I am an audiophile with sensory issues. This heads that for the majority of my life, I have opted for earbuds instead of over-the-ear headphones. The combination of having something on my head and feeling like my ears are claustrophobic is a battle I face with most headphone choices. However, I was shocked and delighted to discover that the Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones don’t cause any of these issues. In fact, they have become an extension of my person, I rarely leave the house without.
This is a unique review, as I have been testing the Momentum 4 headphones for several months. I wanted to do a long-standing test and really put these through their paces, rather than just tell you how good they sound, because they sound absolutely brilliant. However, there is so much more to these headphones than just the quality listening experience. They are the sort of addition to a personal setup that alters how you go about your day.

Sounds Like A Live Concert

Let’s tackle the most important thing first. I tested the Sennheiser Pride Edition Momentum 4 headphones, and I don’t think I have ever heard sound so lovely out of any speakers. We also tested the Accentum Plus Wireless headphones a few months ago, and while the sound in those was lovely, the Momentum 4’s are divine.
The jump in price is met with bigger over-ear speakers, crisper sound, and a clarity that laces every note through your ears like butter. Listening to anything on these is like standing right at the center of a concert. Acoustic is particularly nice, as it sounds like someone is sitting right next to you, strumming the guitar.
The Momentum 4 headphones are also better at delivering the 360 dynamic sound experience. Thanks to the bigger, more powerful speakers, the depth and range of the sound are more noticeable. I found myself listening to songs I’d heard thousands of times, like I’d only just discovered them. There were tones, transitions, and discrepancies that my other audio options had never delivered before, and now that I’ve heard them, other options sound muddled and lacking.
My only quibble with the Momentum 4 headphones, like the Accentums, is that the noise cancelling just isn’t as strong as I would like it to be. I can still hear people on an airplane, bus, or in public spaces like the gym. I’d really love to properly tune them out while I am engrossed in my re-listen of Fearless.
Lightweight, Quality Build With Premium Feel
One of my setbacks with the Accentum Plus headphones was the build. The headband felt just a bit tight. The ear cushions felt a smidge stiff. Not a bad thing at all for people who prefer that type of feel, but as mentioned, my ears don’t like to be smothered.
The Momentum 4 headphones do away with any of my qualms from the Accentum. 0The headband fits perfectly, balanced on a form-fitted cushion to prevent soreness. The earphones are plush and perfectly soft thanks to their leather covers. They are elegant but sturdy, and the stunning white of the Pride edition is striking and stylish.
I especially like the layout of the connection options. The wired-in jack is right at the bottom, and never feels like it might get pulled out or damaged. The USB-C charging port is right beside it, making a quick charge easy to handle.
Like with the Accentum Plus, I did struggle with the touch controls on the face of the earphone plate, but there is an option to turn this off in the mobile app, and that worked perfectly for me. I think this feature likely works well for those who don’t constantly fidget with things, but unfortunately, I have a habit of accidentally sliding the volume while fussing with my hair.
My Momentum 4 Headphones Go Everywhere With Me

It’s happened. I’ve become the person with the headphones around my neck everywhere I go.
These headphones have become a part of my daily life. From listening to music while cooking, cleaning, or shopping, to taking calls for work, I always have them on my person or within arm’s reach. They come with me to the Gym. They go with me on my walks. Even my four-year-old son wants to wear them to listen to his favorite Disney soundtracks. I am absolutely obsessed.
The microphone is perfectly clear on the Momentum 4 headphones, making them my favorite option for hands-free phone calls, and the quick connect to my phone via Bluetooth makes it so they always ready when I need them.
These headphones have become my sanctuary, providing soothing music and a gentle escape from daily stressors, and the luxury of them makes them worth every penny of the cost.
Final Score – 9.5/10
If you are looking for a comfortable, premium option for your next set of headphones, look no further than the Momentum 4. The color options, quality, sound, and comfort are top-tier, and you will not be disappointed.
While I’d love to see some changes to the noise cancelling in future models, I can’t say the background noise bleed-through has put me off of these in any way. I love them, always want them with me, and will never leave the house without them.
Sennheiser really nailed this design, and I don’t see myself switching to a different option anytime soon.
