There is nothing better than breaking news about one of your favorite games, and I am beyond thrilled to relay that Diablo V has been announced during the opening ceremonies of BlizzCon 2026. Bonus Action had the chance to be a part of the action this year, as we are on the ground for the convention this year. The confirmation of Diablo V came in the form of a short teaser trailer that included a planned release year.
Diablo IV has been the focus of Diablo fans for the past several years. Expansions and DLC have kept everyone busy, but there have been indications that the game may be coming to a close, including the more recent additions of solo and single-player challenges that could function well if an offline mode were added to the game.
While confirmation of Diablo IV for the Nintendo Switch 2 was an exciting announcement, the reveal trailer for Diablo V at the end of the Diablo announcements took the Bonus Action team by complete surprise.
Diablo V Set to Release in 2029
According to the release trailer that aired at BlizzCon 2026 on September 12, 2026, and was then added to the official Diablo YouTube channel, Diablo V will release in 2029 and will focus on the fall of Sanctuary. The minute-long cinematic teaser trailer was brief, but implied that terrible things have happened in Sanctuary and that a hero will need to rise yet again to defend the world.
The end of the trailer shows a brief glimpse of Diablo himself peering through the flames of a burning city. Outside of the destruction that has fallen on this location, no other information was provided about gameplay or what players might be able to expect from the new installment.
While details are limited, we are hoping to learn more about Diablo V during BlizzCon, and we are excited to share more news on Diablo IV‘s 30th anniversary season, which begins on September 15th, “Season of Hell’s Legacy.”
