Fresh details about Diablo IV‘s 15th season were covered in a panel with the devs at BlizzCon on September 13, 2026. The new information breaks down the 30th Anniversary Celebration that has been tied into the upcoming season, and what player will be able to expect from the nostalgic bosses and updates to coveted mechanics like War Plans and the Horadric Cube.
The panel kicked off with a deluge of new information about Season 15, including a trailer showcasing some of the incredible fights players will be tackling. The dev team was excited to share that the season will be filled with reimagining’s of past encounters from all past major Diablo titles, including a run-in with Diablo himself.
Diablo IV’s Season 15 Introduces Soul Splinters
As showcased in the trailer shared on the Diablo official YouTube channel, Season 15 will be filled with terrifying, but familiar encounters.
Alongside the trailer, an in-depth blog post on Season 15 was shared to the Diablo IV website, which contains a wealth of fine-point information about the changes and new features that will be debuting.
As described in the trailer, Diablo IV fans will be tasked with an impossible task: hunt down the three Prime Evils, defeat them, and then pick which monstrous nightmare they want to attempt to embody. By taking on an evil “Splinter”, a Reputation Track will unlock, allowing the holder to become impossibly strong – at a cost.
Each Prime Evil offers the following according to the Blizzard blog post:
- Diablo Splinter of Terror modifies Helltide and Infernal Hordes
- Baal Splinter of Destruction modifies The Undercity and Lair Bosses
- Mephisto Splinter of Hatred modifies The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons
During season 15, you will be able to find Soul Splinters and socket them for unique abilities, encounter 20 new bosses, battle 25 new monsters, and explore dungeons designed after iconic locations from previous games. You will be able to equip up to three of the following Splinters at a time:
- Splinter of Anguish – Andariel
- Splinter of Sin – Azmodan
- Splinter of Lies – Belial
- Splinter of the Black Soulstone
- Splinter of Pain – Duriel
- Splinter of the Mother – Lilith
- Splinter of Hellfire – Na-Krul
- Splinter of Damnation – Skarn
Diablo IV Aims To Improve on Core Seasonal Mechanics

In addition to the new content from Season 15, Diablo IV will also be updating key features including War Plans and the Horadric Cube. War Plans will now progression will now be tied to the realm, allowing War Plans reuptation points to transfer between a player’s characters. For anyone who plays multiple characters throughout a season, this will be a huge help when leveling War Plan tracks.
Additionally, my most desired update has been added to the Horadric Cube. Starting in Season 15, players will be able to 1:1 create Mythic Items. You will be able to place an eligible item in the cube, and create an exact version of that item as a Mythic. My Blizzard Sorcerer needed this badly all through Season 14. The item used in the upgrade will keep all its Affixes and attributes, but the process will be expensive.
In addition to all of these changes, Diablo IV will also be adding Rebirth of Eternal Characters. When using this function, you will have the ability to pull an existing character back into Seasonal content, resetting them to Level 1. This is a narratively-driven way to replay as a beloved character without have to remake multiple copies of them in each new season.
This overview barely scratches the surface of what is to come in Season 15, and with so many exciting new ways to play, I know I can’t wait to jump back into Sanctuary on Tuesday, September 15, when everything kicks off.
Still here? Good.
