After nearly four months, Nintendo has announced that the Switch 2 is officially in stock on the My Nintendo Store online. However, instead of excitement from fans, many are pushing back for one big reason.
The Switch 2 has had a rocky launch. From struggles with battery life to the now-predictable issues with resellers and low stock, there have been a myriad of roadblocks for those looking to upgrade to the newest Nintendo handheld.
Currently, one of the biggest frustrations vocalized by fans is a lack of games that make use of the console’s updated graphics, making the $449.99 base price tag a struggle to justify.
Nintendo Players Push Back On Switch 2 Game Library
In a social media post shared by the official Nintendo of America account, it has been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 console is now available to purchase alone or in two separate bundles on the My Nintendo Store online shop.
The comments have exposed a lack of interest in this announcement, pointing out that the PS5 was unavailable for nearly a year after release, while the original Switch was constantly out of stock for almost as long.
Others have focused on the lack of bundles and exclusive editions, especially for big upcoming games like Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
However, the biggest pushback has been on the current game library for the Switch 2. One player has commented, “Where are all the games?” while another added, “Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have games.”
Currently, the Nintendo Switch 2 does have a slim library, and is leaning on backwards compatible titles from the previous console generation to keep players going. Additionally, there has been pushback on the digital game cards and paid upgrade packs that are both expensive and prevent players from owning hard copies of Nintendo Switch 2 games.
At this time, Nintendo has not come out and provided any feedback on the frustration fans have expressed. It is also unlikely any changes will be made to the digital game cards, as they make up a large part of the Switch 2’s “game share’ features. Because of this, it will be interesting to see how Switch 2 sales cope as the end of 2025 approaches.
