There have been rumors of a crossover between Fortnite and Sonic the Hedgehog, and now we have official confirmation that the Blue Blur will grace Epic’s online multiplayer sensation with his presence later this year. Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations with other beloved gaming properties, with icons like Halo‘s Master Chief, God of War‘s Kratos, and Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s Aloy all dropping in as player skins over the years.
Late last year, Fortnite featured a special promotion for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, but alas, this only consisted of shoes and vehicle decals for Rocket League – not character skins as many had hoped for. However, back in January, leaks hinted at another Sonic crossover that would supposedly grant these fans’ wishes to play through battle royale as Sega’s superfast hedgehog mascot or any of his colorful costars.
Epic Confirms Second Sonic x Fortnite Collab
Earlier this week, Epic announced a large assortment of crossovers between Fortnite and other games throughout the rest of 2026 at the recent State of Unreal Fest. According to Vice, this includes a second collaboration with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that will be part of Epic’s gift-with-purchase program. This means that players who pick up Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on the Epic Game Store will get some free cosmetic items in Fortnite.
There is still no word on when this crossover will be held or what the bonuses will be. While many are likely hoping for a player skin for Sonic or one of his friends, this could also just be another batch of Rocket League cosmetics. There could also be some sort of special Fortnite content in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, such as Jonesy or The Foundation as playable characters.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds won’t be the only game crossover in Fortnite this year either, as Vampire Survivors, Control Resonant, and Phantom Blade Zero were all named at State of Unreal Fest. As with the newly announced Sonic collab, details are still scarce as of this writing. In the meantime, Sonic might finally get a playable Fortnite skin in time for his 35th anniversary.
