Mega Evolution insanity has swallowed the Pokémon franchise, and TCG Pocket is no exception. With the newest video game only a month from launch, players are ready to tackle the reintroduction of a favorite gimmick headfirst. However, many Pocket players have pointed out that a critical update is needed for trades if Megas are going to succeed.
Pokémon TCG Pocket has had a bumpy time with trades despite it being a mobile game based on the physical card game, where trading is a core element of the community. When trades were first introduced to Pocket, they operated in a manner similar to trading in Pokémon GO, requiring new currency and a system so complicated and frustrating that players actively avoided it.
While this system has seen large overhauls in the past few months, trading is still limited to single Gold Star rarity or below, making it impossible to trade anything particularly rare.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Needs To Introduce Rare Trades
As players have prepped for the release of Mega Evolution in Pokemon TCG Pocket, one has taken to social media, begging developers to release higher trade rarity alongside the next round of expansions.
The social account points out that TCG Pocket needs to introduce Two Gold Star trades alongside the release of Mega Evolutions, so that players have the opportunity to trade illustration rare cards that can be difficult to pull.
The response in the comments is overwhelmingly affirmative, with nearly every Pokémon TCG Pocket player stating that the update is not just wanted, but critical for gameplay.
One of the primary elements of the mobile app is collecting. However, due to the random card distributions in packs and the limited quantity of free pack openings players can access in a day, obtaining rare cards can be nearly impossible. It also isn’t uncommon for players to pull multiples of one rare card, but get none of the others they are looking for.
Several trainers showed snapshots of their galleries, pointing out that they have been stuck on single cards for months.
While there has been no confirmation that Pokémon TCG Pocket intends to expand trading with the drop of Mega Evolutions, the inclusion would aid most players and offer more options for those who play regularly and aim to collect every card from each expansion.
With the end of September just a few weeks away, Pokémon TCG Pocket may release some news on what to expect next, and what changes could come with any new updates.
