The past six months have been a rollercoaster for Pokémon TCG Pocket players as they have struggled to keep up with the monthly release of new expansion sets. September sees a change in this structure with the announcement of Deluxe Pack ex, which could solve the game’s current biggest problem.
Pocket players have been outspoken about the intensity of the mobile game’s release schedule. While variety is exciting, the monthly expansion drops have burned many out, encouraging speculation that the game is headed toward a model that will favor those who can afford to pay a premium for additional pack openings daily.
Many Pocket players have struggled to keep up with releases, unable to collect all the cards, or even a percentage of the cards, from previous sets do to the aggressive pull rates. This is specifically true for the 4-Diamond rarity or higher. However, Deluxe Pack ex may offer a much-needed solution.
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Deluxe Pack ex Brings Back Rare Favorites
As seen in the Pokémon TCG Pocket Deluxe Pack ex trailer, the new expansion will continue a limited-time run of particularly rare cards. Every pack is guaranteed to contain at least 4-Diamond rare or better from previous sets. The inclusions range from Genetic Apex through Wisdom of Sea and Sky.
Each Deluxe Pack ex booster will contain four cards from this curated list, which will only be active for a short period of time.
When Will The Pokémon TCG Pocket Deluxe Pack ex Expansion Be Available?
The Deluxe Pack ex expansion will be available to open from September 29, 2025, through October 29, 2025. After this timeframe, the special set will be removed from the game.
Additionally, there will be several specific events dropping around the Deluxe Pack ex expansion. These include:
- Raichu ex Drop – October 5 through October 15 – Solo battle challenge for Vol 13 promo packs.
- Bonus Week – October 11 through October 8 – Bonus Week missions for Pack Hourglasses and rewards.
- Wonder Pick Event – October 11 through October 22 – Shaymin and Absol promo cards in Wonder Pick.
- Parallel Foil Cards Mass Outbreak Event – October 22 through October 28 – Parallel foil cards will appear in rare picks and bonus picks.
For many, the Deluxe Pack ex release in Pokémon TCG Pocket will be a chance to focus resources on grabbing previous cards and finishing sets. The break in big new expansions comes just before the debut of Megas to the mobile app, and will hopefully allow everyone to catch their breath before tackling all new card types in the months to come.
