An announcement from Bandai Namco on the reprint of highly sought-after One Piece Card Game sets has turned sour. While fans are eager for another opportunity to purchase the collection, many have cited that resellers, and not stock, were the reason so many missed out – and it seems the reprint could face similar hurdles.
The One Piece Card Game sets give fans of the series another way to engage with their favorite heroes. The game is highly collectible due to the unique full-art illustrations and photos from each set. These include stunning illustrations in the franchise’s style as well as photo-adapted cards based on the live-action series.
Bandai has announced that three sets will be made available for reprint in 2026. However, excitement has taken a back seat as fans press Bandai to do something about the swarm of resellers that overwhelmed previous releases.
One Piece Fans Demand Solution For Reseller Swarms
In a social media post shared on the Official One Piece Card Game Twitter account, it has been confirmed that the One Piece Heroines Special Set, Premium Card Collection – Live Action Edition Vol. 2 Straw Hat Crew, and Premium Card Collection – Live Action Edition Vol. 2 Baroque Words sets will be reprinted. The sale of these cards will take place starting May 14, 2026, at 8 PM PT.
The two Premium Card Collections will cost 20 USD, while the Heroines Special Set is marked at 70 USD on the official Bandai store.
Fans in the comments of the post were happy to see the reprint, but almost every comment cited a concern that the cards wouldn’t end up in the hands of players, but rather those looking to mark them up and resell them on third-party websites.
This has become a standard problem in the TCG and tabletop community. Pokémon cards are so hard to find at MSRP that it is negatively impacting collectors and players. Special sets for Magic The Gathering are just as frustrating to obtain, with resold sets marked up beyond three times MSRP.
TCG players are advocating for an elimination of “frist come first serve” with a request that the reprint should be to order. Those hopeful to purchase the One Piece reprints have pointed out that much of the original print runs for the listed sets ended up in the hands of resellers and scalpers, stating that the reprint is less exciting due to the high probability that the reprint could suffer a similar fate.
The lack of process to prevent resellers and bots from clearing out TCG collections is raising questions among the tabletop and TCG communities. Many feel that the companies have no interest in stopping the problem because the false shortages create a manufactured sense of hype and bloated value.
Unfortunately, most companies currently printing TCG sets have not released or addressed systems to stop reselling. A few websites have implemented queue systems or scans to attempt to identify bots, but it doesn’t seem to be making an impact.
Those hoping to grab the reprinted One Piece Card Game collections will want to be ready at 8 PM PT on May 14, as the sets are likely to sell out just as quickly as the original print runs.
