The sun is shining, the water is glittery, and it is time to jump in for a new type of swim in Pokopia. Following the 2.0 update that was released on August 5, 2026, players can now encounter Manaphy in Bleak Beach and learn the secrets to swimming underwater via the move “Dive”.
Dive does not require the “Bubbly Basin” DLC, as it was a free addition to the base game that came out alongside the first paid expansion. All players need to do is complete Bleak Beach until it hits Environment Level 5, unlock Surf, and ensure that the 2.0 update has been applied to get started.
Once you have everything ready to go, jump into the breakdown below to learn where Manaphy is hiding and how to unlock Dive.
How to Find Manaphy in Pokopia

To find Manaphy, speak with Professor Tangrowth after entering Bleak Beach at Environment Level 5 with the move Surf unlocked. He will mention a strange island that has appeared off the coast of Bleak Beach, and encourage you to swim out to it. The island is in the top right part of the Bleak Beach map.
After swimming out to the island, you will find Manaphy lying on the sand in a state of collapse. Speak to it, and you will learn that it is lost and starving.

After speaking to Manaphy, it will ask you for x5 pieces of Seasweed. If you don’t already have a stack in your inventory, spend some time walking the sandy areas of the island. There will be plenty to use for this task.

Once you have the five pieces, head back to Manaphy and hand them over. It will be overjoyed and thank you for the help. However, it will be shocked that you didn’t fetch the seaweed from under the water.
How to Learn Dive From Manaphy
Manaphy will offer to teach you how to Dive after it has consumed the seaweed it has been offered. Like with other abilities, this won’t require anything from you. Instead, Manaphy speaks about diving to Ditto, who then shapeshifts to hold a bubble of air over its head while in Squirtle mode.

Once you have learned Dive, walk into the water at the center of Manaphy’s cave. Going underwater instantly triggers Dive, allowing you to stay under the water as you move forward. Collect the treasure at the back of the underwater cave and then return to Manaphy. It will congratulate you, and then say that you are free to dive whenever you choose.
After this, Dive will be unlocked and usable in any area with deep enough water. Getting Dive is also the key to opening the “Bubbly Basin” biome from the paid Pokopia DLC.
Still here? Good.
