Once upon a time, cozy magical life sim Witchbrook was slated for a winter 2025 release. The game has since been delayed with a vague “next year” timeline attached. But as the months have gone by, many cozy gamers have lost hope that we’ll get to play Witchbrook in 2026. Despite a few sporadic dev logs and updates, Chucklefish and Robotality haven’t given us a new release window. However, they have been fairly active in the game’s official Discord. Now, their latest update has us feeling hopeful we just might see Witchbrook in 2026 after all.
In a lengthy and transparent update via the official Discord, Witchbrook dev Tiy shared why the team hasn’t given us a new release window. While they still aren’t ready to tell us when the game’s coming out, it sounds like it’s further along than we previously thought. In fact, Witchbrook is apparently “feature complete and borderline content complete.” That just might be the best news we’ve had on the long-awaited magical game in quite some time.
Witchbrook Could Still Release in 2026 “If Things Go Smoothly”

The number of updates in the official Witchbrook Discord has steadily ramped up in the last few weeks. In fact, we just got a new Dev Log with a more in-depth look at some of the game’s features. This latest quick look at the game shows off its build mode. It also offers a sneak peek at several of the items we’ll be able to use to decorate. While it’s not a lot, it does offer another glimpse of Witchbrook in motion, and at this point, we’ll take it.
Now, the slew of updates includes a pretty in-depth look at where the game is in the development process. And what Chucklefish has to say renews our fragile hope for a 2026 release. At the moment, the team is running internal playtests and making final balancing adjustments to the game. It’s otherwise very nearly complete, barring the need for any major changes. According to Tiy, we don’t have a new release window because the devs want to make sure the current playtests don’t surface any significant issues. So long as only small balance adjustments are required following playtest feedback, Witchbrook may well be ready to launch in the near future.
Basically, “if things go very smoothly, 2026 works” for the Witchbrook release. But the team doesn’t plan to announce a release date until the game passes the console submission process. This process, particularly for the Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, can take some time. So, Chucklefish isn’t planning to share a firm launch date until they know the game is ready to go on console as well as PC.
From the sound of it, 2026 is still within the realm of possibility for Witchbrook. But we shouldn’t be holding our breath for it, either. A lot could still go wrong in these final touches, and it could mean more development time before the game even begins the console submission process. Still, the transparency here is refreshing, and the game is much further along than many of us expected given the relative silence. I’m not quite setting up my cozy corner for an October Witchbrook launch just yet, but I’m feeling ever so slightly hopeful again for the first time in a while.
Still here? Good.
