As we have waited with bated breath for any news of Heaven Official’s Blessing‘s Donghua getting a third season, Chinese studio Bilibili has offered up short films that animate critical scenes from the original Danmei. The story, which follows Xie Lian, an 800-year-old disgraced official, and his love interest Hua Cheng, is a beautiful, emotional, and intense thrill ride both in the Danmei and the limited Donghua adaptation. After a disappointing lack of information at Anime Expo 2026’s Bilibili panel, an official trailer for the fourth short film has debuted on YouTube.
As predicted, the fourth short film covers a scene from later in the Danmei, in which Xie Lian learns a shocking secret about Hua Cheng. Up until this moment, the short films have been relatively light-hearted, with the last including an underwater kiss shared by the pair during an intense battle. The animation is beautiful, brought to life by brilliant voice acting and music.
Hua Cheng Braces As Xie Lian Learns The Truth
In the YouTube video shared on the official Bilibili account, a series of short clips from the upcoming Heaven Official’s Blessing fourth short film was compiled into a teaser trailer.
The focus of the short film appears to be on the Cave of Ten Thousand Gods, a special location in Tonglu Mountain, where Hua Cheng has kept the statues he has carved of Xie Lian throughout centuries of pining. This is also considered a major turning point in the duo’s relationship, where Xie Lian recognizes the depth of Hua Cheng’s feelings for him.
The trailer looks incredible, matching the stunning art style and animation quality of the previous short films and two full seasons of the Heaven Official’s Blessing Donghua. It has bolstered fans grappling with a lack of announcements at Anime Expo 2026 despite heavy teasing and advertising that there would be a large-scale reveal for the series at Bilibili’s official panel.
Unfortunately, no reveal was given, and many fans of the series only attended the convention to sit in on the panel. Many were hopeful the reveal would include the announcement of the long-awaited Season 3 of the Donghua. Sadly, there has yet to be any official confirmation that a third season will ever air.
At this time, it appears that the fourth short film for Heaven Official’s Blessing will be released in the middle of August 2026. The exact dates have not yet been revealed, but it is currently rumored that the release will kick off at a special event happening in Japan.
Until then, fans will have to keep an eye on Bilibili’s social media for any new teasers or additional information about the series.
