For years, magical life sim Witchbrook has felt like more of a myth than an actual, real game we’ll get to play. So it surprised everyone when the game reappeared last year during a Nintendo Direct showcase. That reappearance came with a vague promise of a 2025 release, which was later delayed to 2026. As the year winds down, many fans had been losing hope we’d get any news about the game’s official release date. But the October 28th Indie World Direct showcase wasted no time getting to the good part: Witchbrook finally has a real, actual release date.
The first game featured in the Indie World, Witchbrook showed off some new gameplay footage before finally dropping the news we’ve all been waiting for. Witchbrook releases for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 28th, 2027. Yes, my fellow PlayStation owners, you read that correctly: PS5 is officially confirmed as a launch day platform for Witchbrook! January may be a smidge later than the 2026 release window, but not by much. Having an actual date, rather than a vague release window, makes the game’s launch feel much more real.
Witchbrook Nails Down January 2027 Release Date for PC & Consoles
Over the last few months, Chucklefish and Robotality picked up the pace for sharing new Witchbrook intel. But few fans dared to hope that could really mean we were actually getting a release date for the long-awaited life sim. Now, however, it’s real: the game is releasing on January 28th, 2027.
Along with that exciting announcement, we got another look at the game in action. The brand-new release date announcement trailer includes a more in-depth look at several in-game locations, mini-games, and perhaps most importantly, broomstick travel. Witchbrook also showed off a few sneak peeks at the different seasonal vibes that we’ll get to experience throughout the year. You can get a look at the latest Witchbrook trailer below:
I’m not going to lie, this latest look has me even more excited to play the game. We’ve got potion brewing, tarot cards, and flying cars along with magic classes, flying brooms, and a wide world to explore. And at long last, we know when it’s going to happen. Though it’s not a guarantee, citing a specific, actual release date makes another delay look a lot less likely.
Witchbrook is finally headed to PC and consoles on January 28th, 2027. You can wishlist the game on Steam now.
