Fae Farm’s multiplayer survived the shutdown scare, thanks to a new publishing deal that kept the cozy sim alive.
Phoenix Labs, the studio behind Fae Farm, struggled through repeated layoffs and restructuring. In May 2024, it cut staff and canceled multiple projects. By January 2025, the majority of the team was gone. Then, in May, its flagship title, Dauntless, was shuttered, and the developer’s website even went offline. This left Fae Farm’s future hanging in the balance.
Recently, PC players were warned that online play would end, and Epic delistings raised worries that the game could disappear altogether. For fans who had sunk hours into Azoria, it looked like the cozy world was closing its doors.
Fae Farm survives with Gambit Digital
However, on Twitter, the team surprised fans with an announcement that stated: “We’re excited to share some wonderful news: Fae Farm now has a new publisher and the adventure in Azoria continues!”
They confirmed “Multiplayer servers are still online and should remain available during the transfer.”
The new publisher is revealed to be Gambit Digital X. They’re working with Game Cloud Network, Pure Wonder Interactive, and Phatty Acid as part of a new publishing collective. Together, they acquired Fae Farm’s publishing rights, making Gambit Digital the publisher of record going forward.
The collective focuses on giving struggling games a second life when their original studios step back. For Fae Farm, it means multiplayer is safe for now, and there’s fresh hope for updates or even a sequel.
Fans celebrated the news. One wrote, “Saved!? Does this mean you will start doing updates?” Another added, “I DIDN’T GIVE UP ON YOU! (Almost) BUT I DIDN’T! I had a special feeling this game was going to stick around.”
Others simply hoped for new life: “So happy for you guys and genuinely hope this means more Fae Farm content, whether it’s more for the current game or a sequel.”
For now, Fae Farm stands with Stardew Valley and Coral Island as cozy sims that embrace multiplayer. Azoria’s farms and friendships aren’t going anywhere, and players can breathe easier about the game’s future.
