In Sovereign Tower, the Act 2 murder feels like a scripted tragedy you are powerless to stop.
Alwena storms in complaining about midnight noise, you pick what sounds like a reasonable response, and a few cycles later your favorite knight is dead in the corridor. Most players assume this is a fixed story beat, but it is not. The crime is fully preventable once you understand how the traitor system works.
Here is exactly how to stop the Act 2 murder in Sovereign Tower, save your knight, and earn the traitor achievement without losing anyone you care about.
How to Stop The Murder Plot in Sovereign Tower
You cannot save anyone on your first pass. Let the crime happen, complete the investigation to learn the killer’s name, then use the demon’s power to rewind.
Knowing who dies isn’t enough. You need to know who kills.
Step 1 – Witness the Crime for the First Time
Act 2 begins, and Alwena complains about noise at night. Your options are all duds this first time, so pick anything.
The crime happens a few cycles later, mid-audience, and the victim is the knight you’re closest to. Affinity counts, but romance counts triple, so it’s almost always whoever you’ve been courting.

The demon appears and offers to turn back time. At this point, refuse it. Rewinding now only tells you who dies, which unlocks a door-locking option that swaps in a random substitute victim. Someone still bleeds, and the demon calls you a lazy Sovereign for it.
Step 2 – Complete the Crime Investigation Quest

Take the investigation quest that appears in your Round Table quest log and solve it.
Then, confront the murderer in the follow-up audience. The perpetrator will be Angelica, Gideon, Gwendan, or Ursula, based on who had the lowest affinity with you when Act 2 started. This also earns the “A Traitor” achievement.
Step 3 – Rewind to the Audience Before the Crime

Now, rewind. Back at Alwena’s audience, a new option has appeared: “I think I know who is responsible. I’ll speak with them.”
Take it, then have an audience with your Knight, who is exhausted and admits they’ve been hearing voices at night.
Still here? Good.
