Farming is one of the most important daily mechanics players will engage with while playing Moonlight Peaks. From day one, you will be handed a bag of Blood Grape Seeds and a shovel, and it will only get more complex from there. From quest lines to earning money, what you grow in your garden will supply your little homestead with everything it needs.
In this guide, we will be breaking down the basics of farming, how to start using magic seeds, and what crops can be grown in Moonlight Peaks.
How to Farm in Moonlight Peaks

To get started farming in Moonlight Peaks, all you will need is a shovel, a watering can, and seeds. Thankfully, basic tools are available from Spring 1. You can toggle through your shed of supplies by hitting the right bumper on your Joy-Con. This will activate the tool wheel.
Getting seeds can be a bit more difficult. Your first few bags will be supplied by Orlock on Spring 1, after he requests that you make him some wine. These Blood Grape Seeds are perfect starter crops with a lucrative secret. They produce crops indefinitely through their seasons, and they can be processed into Wine.
To get farming, use the shovel to dig a hole in the dirt. Then access your inventory and select the seeds you would like to use and choose “Plant.” After placing the seeds in the dirt, water them daily with the watering can.
TIP: Until you purchase a well, you will need to fill your watering can from the water to the left of your home. When you unlock spellcasting, you can also buy a spell that refills it instantly.
Be sure to water your crops every day unless it is raining. Otherwise, they will not grow or produce food. Once the crops are ripe, you can interact with the plant to harvest. Anything you pick will automatically be added to your inventory.
Where to Buy Seeds in Moonlight Peaks

Seeds are purchased from Luna’s seed stand. She will have any seeds that are in season. When first starting the game, magical crops will not be available. However, after completing her quests to learn magic, new seeds will be added to the list of available options.

All Magic Seeds & Crops in Moonlight Peaks
Along with regular seeds, players will also be able to grow magical seeds after unlocking the spell Aquaflux I. This ability is unlocked in Summer of year one, when players get a letter from Luna in the mail that requests their help with a project. This started the quest “The Magic of Crops”. During this quest, Luna will help the player fix their broken wand and teach them to cast a spell that applies magic water to crops.
This is critical, as magic seeds can only be watered with the Aquaflux I spell. Regular water from the watering can will not work. Below are all the magic seeds that can be grown in Moonlight Peaks.

All Herb Garden Seeds & Crops in Moonlight Peaks
In addition to the standard crops that grow in dirt plots, you will also be able to grow herbs in an herb garden after unlocking the Blueprints during a conversation with Luna. This quest unlocks after completing “The Magic of Crops”. She is attempting to brew potions from magical plants, but has realized they are more effective when dried and ground up. After starting “The Need for Herbs” quest, Luna will give you the Blueprint for the Herb Garden.
Below are all of the herbs that can be planted in Moonlight Peaks.

How to Craft an Herb Garden
Once you have the Blueprint, head back to your Workbench and navigate to the Herb Garden.

The Herb Garden requires 10 Wooden Planks, which can be obtained by putting Wood into the Refinery. We would recommend making two, so you have plenty of room for all the herbs your current mana levels can support.
Once built, place the Herb Garden outside. Then you can place the seeds and water them with Aquaflux I if they are magical. Non-magic seeds can be managed with your standard watering can.
All Fruit Trees in Moonlight Peaks
Once you have your fields laden down with crops and the herb gardens thriving, it will be time to plant a few fruit trees. There isn’t a large variety of fruit trees currently in the game, but they are important for cooking a vast number of recipes.
Below are all the fruit trees you can grow in Moonlight Peaks. They can mature in every season, but only bare fruit in specific seasons.
| Fruit Tree | Season | Grow Time | Sell Value |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Blood Orange | Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter | Grows in 25 days Yields harvest every 7 days | 170G |
![]() Cocoa Bean | Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter | Grows in 25 days Yields harvest every 8 days | 30G |
![]() Coffee | Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter | Grows in 25 days Yields harvest every 8 days | 35G |
![]() Lemon | Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter | Grows in 25 days Yields harvest every 6 days | 35G |
![]() Muse Nut | Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter | Grows in 25 days Yields harvest every 7 days Must be grown with a Gramophone playing nearby. The seeds must be placed within 2 farming squares and the gramophone must be turned on each day. | 60G |
With all the above seeds, you will be ready to earn some money, cook some food, and craft up jams and wines with no interruption. While it may take a full in-game year to get a bit of everything, each crop has uses beyond being sold, making farming a lucrative and enjoyable part of Moonlight Peaks.
Still here? Good.
