Anyone familiar with the original Final Fantasy VII saga knows that there is plenty of emotional drama in the tale of Cloud Strife and company, and the talented actor voicing the Buster Sword-wielding hero is promising that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will have a gut-punching payoff for the long-running Remake series. For the past several years, Square Enix has been re-adapting the beloved Final Fantasy VII into a trilogy of modern RPGs, and the final chapter was shown off during last month’s Summer Games Fest.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch across all major gaming platforms in 2027 and will pick up where 2024’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth left off – with Cloud and his friends trying to stop the evil Sephiroth from bringing about the end of the world. Without spoiling anything for those who didn’t get to play the classic Final Fantasy VII on the original PlayStation, this last stretch of the story contains some shocking revelations (heh) and emotionally charged moments to cap off the adventure.
Cody Christian Says Final Fantasy VII Revelation Will Be “More Emotional”
Cody Christian, the actor who voices Cloud Strife throughout the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, was on hand at the KawaCon Anime & Gaming Convention in San Antonio, Texas, this past weekend and discussed the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation with a fan named Ally B. As reported by GamesRadar and other sources, Christian said that Revelation will have “so much emotionality” and “so much vulnerability.” “There are moments in this that if you haven’t cried in the first two yet, I guarantee you’ll be sobbing in this third one.”
This is no small praise, considering that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth quite literally ends with one of the most shocking and tragic plot twists in gaming history. Again, I won’t spoil it here. Cody Christian went on to say that these moments help the overall payoff of the journey fans have been on since Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s launch in 2020 – itself the culmination of nearly two decades of said fans hoping and dreaming for a re-imagining of the iconic Final Fantasy VII that revolutionized the series way back in 1997.
Britt Baron, who voices the equally popular Tifa Lockhart in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, was also present at KawaCon and said that she’s excited for players to see the “big finale scenes” that will come in this closing chapter. So far, the Final Fantasy VII Remake series has provided plenty of emotional twists and turns – including new spins on pivotal moments and subplots in the original – and it looks like we’re in for a gripping conclusion when Revelation finally launches next year.
