Magic is a strange and powerful skill in Moonlight Peaks, allowing you to grow special crops and summon floating watering cans. While you arrive in town with a wand in your pocket, it remains broken for a good many weeks into the game loop. However, after helping a few characters, the power of magic will be put firmly in your hands – and on your tool wheel.
Magic is done using spells in Moonlight Peaks. Each new spell you learn will be registered in the almanac, with a replay of how the spell is done in case you forget which patterns cast specific incantations. In this guide, we will go over unlocking magic, how to fix your wand, and what you can do once you have applied a bit of tape and some elbow grease to your family heirloom.
How to Fix The Wand in Moonlight Peaks

The first step in learning magic is fixing the magic wand, as requested by Luna during the quest “The Magic of Crops.”
At the start of Summer, Luna will send you a letter requesting that you come to her home and take a look at a new project she is working on. Head into the forest above your home to trigger a cutscene. During the interaction, Luna will show you some special seeds that only grow when watered by a magic spell. These Moonfruit are magical in nature, but you aren’t able to help water them, as your inherited wand has seen better days.
Luna sends you to the Webb of Wonders to speak with Sabrina. While there, you bump into Noel, who charms your wand back into a somewhat usable state. Once it is repaired, return to Luna’s farm for another cutscene. She will ask you to water the Moonfruit plot for two days and will teach you the spell Aquaflux I.

For the next two days, go back to Luna’s farm to water the Moonfruit using the Aquaflux I spell. Once this is done, return to Luna’s farm another time. Luna will then give you a few bags of Moonfruit seeds, and her shop selection will expand the next day to carry magical seeds.
How to Do Magic in Moonlight Peaks

According to the almanac, there are 12 spells in Moonlight Peaks. These spells are taught to you via story progression and interactions with other characters. All magic must be done with the wand and requires Mana. Your Mana is shown under the Stamina Bar as small, blue diamonds. When used, the Diamond is greyed out. One Mana point recovers after each sleep, but Mana can also be restored by consuming Mana Essence.
Magic is primarily used to help with farming or accessing special areas in Moonlight Peaks. It is also expensive to use at the start of the game, when you only have three Mana points at any given time. Magic seeds are expensive to grow, which can make Mana Essence extraction a bit difficult when first getting settled.
Despite this, Magic and the Magic Wand are critical to story progression and unlock top-tier crops and materials once you have the needed spells.
How to Get the Witch’s Wand in Moonlight Peaks

Fixing your broken wand will unlock a world of magic. But in order to cast the most powerful spells in Moonlight Peaks, you will need to get the Witch’s Wand. This more powerful wand lets you purchase and cast level II spells, which are more powerful than basic ones.
The Witch’s Wand is a reward for completing the “A Touch of Magic” quest. To unlock it, you need to progress Fiona’s story and friendship level. Then, she’ll send you a letter that asks you to prove your magical prowess. To pass her test and officially join the Coven, you need to learn and cast the following spells:
- Use a spell to grow a crop – Learn & cast Maturio
- Use a spell to make it rain – Learn & cast Tomorrow’s Tears
- Use a spell to move your house – Learn & cast Hoisthaven
Once you do this and talk to Fiona, you’ll become an official coven member. She will invite you to a ceremony to mark the occasion, and it’s there that you’ll receive the Witch’s Wand. Once you do, it’ll automatically replace your old wand, letting you cast Level II spells.
TIP: Once you buy an upgraded spell, you don’t have to learn a new spell pattern! Casting the spell with its usual prompt will automatically cast the highest level version.
How to Learn More Spells & Full Spell List

Once you unlock magic and learn Aquaflux I, you will be able to buy more spells from Sabrina’s shop, Webb of Wonders. She has a variety of helpful spells that make watering and harvesting crops easier. Once you buy a spell, you can preview the required wand movements in your journal. Then, just copy them with your wand to cast!
