Cozy fantasy novel Legends & Lattes claimed the hearts and minds of many readers. It’s left a coffee mug-shaped hole in many of our lives, and we’re constantly looking for something to fill it.
While no book will ever quite capture the exact vibe of another, read-alike recommendations are a thing for a reason. If you find yourself craving a cozy fantasy like Legends & Lattes, we’ve got some recommendations you can try.
A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic by J. Penner

- Cost: $14 Paperback; $25 Hardcover on Amazon
- Review Copy Provided: No
- Age: Adult (MC is an adult, but content is appropriate for YA audiences as well)
- Spicy Level: 1
For me, A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic has come closest to recapturing the special blend of low-stakes cozy fantasy found in Legends & Lattes. It follows a human baker who struggles in a world where those without magic are looked down upon. Then, her orc neighbors enter her into a baking competition, and her life is turned upside down.
Most of the story takes place on the road to and during the baking competition. It’s got a sweet, spice-free romance and a found family element that’s just delightful.
Beware of Chicken by CasualFarmer

- Cost: $18 Paperback; $4.99 eBook on Amazon ($0 eBook with Prime)
- Review Copy Provided: No
- Age: Adult
- Spicy Level: 1
This recommendation comes from many cozy fantasy lovers on Reddit, who say this one will scratch that Legends & Lattes itch. It follows a martial arts master who decides to escape the drama and become a farmer. The stakes are low, and there’s a pet rooster that ingests some Spirit Herbs. What more could you want?
As a bonus, this is a series with a total of four books, so you can keep going if you like the first book. Quick note for those who don’t think adult language is cozy – the book does include swearing.
Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne

- Cost: $15 Paperback; $9.99 eBook on Amazon
- Review Copy Provided: No
- Age: Adult
- Spicy Level: 2
If you’re frustrated that Legends & Lattes gets shelved as a sapphic romance even though the couple doesn’t even remotely express romantic interest until the final pages, I’ve got you. Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea centers on two women who’ve been secretly dating for quite some time, due to the nature of their careers. When a shocking incident shows Reyna what she’s worth to her Queen, she decides to abandon ship and make good on Kianthe’s dream of opening a bookshop that serves tea.
The stakes in this one are a little higher than Legends & Lattes, but it’s a simmer more than a full boil. You’ve got those cozy teashop vibes and a good bit of found family, with a few baked goods and a bit of magic sprinkled in for good measure. It’s the first book in the Tea & Tomes series, with one sequel already out and a third book on the way.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

- Cost: $12 Paperback; $12.99 eBook on Amazon
- Review Copy Provided: No
- Age: Adult
- Spicy Level: 1
Cozy fantasy fans absolutely adore Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries and its sequel. For me, this book felt a bit grumpier than Legends & Lattes, but still in the same vein of low stakes with a dash of fantasy.
Emily Wilde is an antisocial scholar whose main barrier to her research about the Fair Folk is the part where she has to talk to other humans. But her research brings her to a small village where she needs to worm her way into the good graces of the locals to get the info she needs. Thankfully, her charming academic rival shows up to offer his “help”… and gets on her last nerve.
People will tell you this is a romance but in my opinion, people lie. There’s a bit of a romantic subplot but it’s pretty inconsequential for most of the book.
Prefer to revisit the actual world of Legends & Lattes with a brand new story? Travis Baldree recently released a new short story so we can do just that. Looking for cozy gaming vibes? Check out our review of the fantasy farming sim Fields of Mistria.
