The first day of school is just around the corner, and new university students are checking off their dorm-room must-haves in preparation. However, it’s not just comforters and laundry hampers that are needed for their first day on campus. A good, reliable tech set makes or breaks study habits. Those looking for an excellent, ergonomic, portable keyboard and mouse will want to add the ASUS Marshmallow set to their list, as they are the perfect option for students on their way to school.
With technology getting more and more expensive, dropping cash on important items like laptop and tablet accessories can be a daunting prospect. Picking the wrong Bluetooth keyboard, or going too cheap, can leave college students with broken keys or a poor connection during a paper or in the middle of a class. Because of this, finding a good mid-range option that can do it all without breaking down is the key.
ASUS makes some fantastic, durable keyboards that can easily slide into a backpack, offer a low form factor, and can connect via Bluetooth or wireless for seamless usability. Of all the options on the market, my current go-to is the Marshmallow set.
Dependable Accessories at a Reasonable Price

As someone who cheaped out on their first tablet keyboard, I can’t express enough how important it is to pick something that will go the distance. My first Bluetooth keyboard was a Logitech that came in at about $20. It was dead six months into the school year. The ASUS Marshmallow, which we have rigorously tested for the past four months, has held up to everything that a keyboard might endure. From cross-country trips to coffeeshop study sessions, it has taken everything we’ve thrown at it in style.
The ASUS Marshmallow KW100 in Iridescent White offers Bluetooth and Wireless support. It has a shiny accent on the space and entry keys for a bit of additional flair. The keys are low profile, perfect for easy typing, and they are perfectly responsive. The keyboard is battery-powered, which is the only real flaw we have found, as rechargeable options are definitely more popular, but the battery life on the keyboard lasts for months, making it less of an issue.
The low-profile keys are also great for travel, as it isn’t likely that the keys will catch on anything while the keyboard is tucked in a backpack or hip bag.
The Marshmallow keyboard is currently priced at $54.99, and frequently goes on sale, making it a fantastic and high-quality option at a solid price point.
An Adorable Mouse to Match

In addition to the Marshmallow Keyboard, you can also grab an ASUS Marshmallow Mouse to match. The MD100 Marshmallow Mouse is designed for portability. It sports a fabric loop for easy carrying, and comes with multiple face plates so you can switch up the color. My personal favorite is the Solar Blue. It is light, smooth, and exceedingly responsive.
Like the keyboard, the Marshmallow mouse also runs on batteries, but gets an exceptional lifespan on each charge. It has an ultra-slim design with buttons that are built into the body instead of being separate. Additionally, it can reach 1600 DPI and can be adjusted for three different sensitivity modes, making it great for light gaming as well as research and homework.
The mouse is very small, which might be a bit of a struggle for anyone with larger hands, but I have long fingers and found the slim, round design comfortable and easy to use. It does function best on a mousepad or smooth surface.
The Marshmallow Mouse is currently listed at $49.99 on the ASUS website and goes on sale with the keyboard during seasonal events.
With so many things to manage before the start of school, having a mouse and keyboard that are durable, reliable, and easy to use is a huge relief. These ASUS accessories are sure to level up your college student’s study habits and ensure they can spend their time focused on their future, and not on battling a busted space bar.
