When I first learned that my favorite cozy game-slash-productivity tool had a new kitchen-themed DLC coming back, I could barely contain my excitement. It’s no secret by now that I love Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. Before I found the game, I had never really listened to lofi or considered using a productivity app… but within a few hours, I was absolutely hooked. As someone who loves spending time in the kitchen and unlocking every recipe in the games I play, the Cozy Kitchen DLC was the add-on I didn’t know I needed.
This new DLC pack for Spirit City: Lofi Sessions adds a kitchen area to the game. Along with that new space, players get new activities to participate in, from chopping veggies to simmering a pot over the stove and beyond. Plus, for those here for those gameified elements, the Spiritdex gets an add-on with 3 brand-new Spirits and 9 new variants to collect! So, did the Cozy Kitchen DLC deliver on my high expectations?

A Comfy New Space to Make Your Own
Admittedly, I wasn’t sure how the kitchen add-on would work. Part of the charm of Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is how it all takes place in one comfy room. Thankfully, the kitchen area fits right into the existing Activity selection menu. You just pick a kitchen-based activity, and voila, your avatar appears in the kitchen area just as it would on your bed, at your desk, and so on. It’s incredibly seamless while still giving the excitement of something new.
Like the other areas in Spirit City, the kitchen can be customized to the player’s liking. It came ready-made in mint green, which means I changed very little because that just so happens to be my favorite color.

That said, the customization options have been expanded with this DLC. You can change the backsplash, floor, curtains, windows, countertops, cabinets, and more for the kitchen area alone, letting you create your dream kitchen in virtual form. Along with these new options for the newly added space, Mooncube has added more color customization across the board. You can now adjust colors for furniture and other items with a color wheel to get your exact preference.
In addition to the furniture options, there’s a delightful array of kitchen clutter to make the space feel truly lived in. I did have some issues when decorating certain areas, where I couldn’t quite see the clutter options due to the camera angle, but this was only for the “item 3” and “item 4” counter spaces. For the most part, the decorating experience was smooth, cozy, and far too easy to sink into for far too long.
A Delightful Array of New Spirits to Meet
As much as I love layering my perfect combination of lofi tunes and ambient sounds, I do always get a bit sad when I run out of new Spirits to find. Based on the generous sneak peeks that Mooncube has shared, I knew we were getting new Spirits with the Cozy Kitchen DLC. But when I opened up that fresh new Spiritdex tab, I was amazed to see a whole 12 new friends to meet.
In fact, the entire Spiritdex gets a makeover with this DLC, so it felt like opening a brand-new book. Each Spirit now has its own themed page, bringing more personality to the text. The new tab features 12 new entries, with even more helpful hints on how to meet them.
Most of the new Spirits are actually variants of existing ones, but with a fun food-themed twist, with only 3 truly brand-new additions. Even so, you get the fun of figuring out the right combination of activities, sounds, and settings to attract each one. The Dex includes several hints for each Spirit, but even so, a few of them took me a bit of time to work out.

I especially liked that finding some of the new Spirits requires hanging out with a specific Companion while you work. As a dog mom in real life, I tend to spend most of my in-game time with Moonpaw, and it’s nice to have an incentive to mix it up and spend time with the other adorable Spirits. The Cozy Kitchen DLC adds new animations for each Spirit as well, so I got to see them helping my avatar cook or, my personal favorite, read at the kitchen table beside me.
Live Your Best Kitchen Life
Along with the kitchen customization and new Spirits, the DLC adds a ton of new kitchen activities and kitchen-themed avatar items. In total, there are 8 new activities for the kitchen space, including chopping, whisking, cooking, simmering, dishwashing, and typing or reading at the kitchen table. Your Spirit companion will join with each activity for an adorable, wholesome coworking vibe.

To get into chef mode, you’ll also find some new avatar items to fit the theme. There are a few different chef hat options, though you’re never prying the witch hat off my avatar. You’ll also find 11 different apron outfits. Compared to the other new content, there’s not a ton to find with new avatar customization options. That said, I didn’t miss them with everything else there was to explore when diving into this massive DLC.
Final Score: 9/10
As I said in my title for this review, the Cozy Kitchen DLC is a nearly perfect addition to Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. The amount of new content is impressive for a DLC and feels fair for the price point. I love how seamlessly the new area fits into the game and how many new options it offers while keeping the original cozy vibe that makes Spirit City so iconic.
For anyone looking to add a little more variety to their Spirit City sessions, this addition is a must-have. And for anyone who doesn’t yet have the base game, those adorable kitchen spirits and animations are another compelling reason to pick it up.
