A cozy game that harkens back to the first-gen Pokemon games, filled with farming, building, spells, and so much more, has managed to smash its Kickstarter only minutes after its release.
Announced as Monsterpatch, developer Sean Young describes the adventure as “A love letter to retro monster collecting games that blends unique farming and town building mechanics,” and if you’ve ever played the first-gen Pokemon games or Animal Crossing, then you’re in for a treat.
It seems many more would agree as the game smashed through its $11,605 goal on Kickstarter in just 16 minutes, with over 545 backers pledging their support. As of the time of writing, Monsterpatch has more than doubled its funding, with the number still rapidly rising.
Naturally, this comes after the success of Young’s previous game, Littlewood, the adorable RPG that gained plenty of popularity after its release 2019. It is a must-try while waiting for Monsterpatch.
What is Monsterpatch?

Monsterpatch features all the elements you likely know and love from the cozy games genre, including a world teeming with magical creatures known as MoNs, an epic adventure, farming, harvesting, and of course, tons of NPCs to enjoy.
Fans of farming sims can design their town however they like, planting crops, paths, fences, trees, and even controlling their region’s elevation, making it a dream for lovers of Animal Crossing or games like Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Additionally, there are a variety of MoN battles you can take part in. Using a team of four, you can engage in plenty of fast-paced encounters, all of which can be adjusted to personal preferences.
Ultimately, Monsterpatch looks to be all the best bits of the cozy games many know and love with a little Littlewood mixed in. Given the immediate success, it’s clear this one is a game you’ll want to watch out for.
You can back Monsterpatch on Kickstarter until April 24, 2025.
