In 2017, cozy fans were left breathless by the announcement of a pixelated magical simulation title, Witchbrook. It was an immediate focus for fans of the genre, with Silksong-like intensity around any sort of news. However, as years went by without updates, many assumed it had been quietly snuffed out without ever revealing additional details.
While tidbits about the game have cropped up periodically, especially around the Wholesome Direct, it has remained a mystery that fans genuinely didn’t want to know the fate of.
However, during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, not only was Witchbrook featured with a lengthy trailer, but it also came with a release window for 2025.
The Witchy Life Sim We All Wanted
As shown in the additional trailer shared on the Chuckfish official YouTube channel, the world of Witchbrook has had a huge facelift since its first reveal images and footage. Sporting an art style similar to a leveled-up Gaia Online, players will live out their lives as students at a magical college. They’ll have the ability to explore the town, take jobs, and build an immersive life in the city of Mossport.
The trailer also revealed that the release window for Witchbrook will be Winter 2025. It is possible the game will sneak into the holiday release lineup just in time to be a stocking stuffer.
It has also been confirmed on the official website for Witchbrook, that the game will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox from the start. It will also be included on Game Pass Day One via Xbox Play Anywhere.
While there is still so much to learn about this cozy town and its witchy vibes, it looks to be everything players had originally hoped for. All that’s left to do is wait and see what teasers are offered before Witchbrook releases later this year.
