Farming Sim Fans Get Huge Shock With Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar Remake Announcement

It has been two years since the last Story of Seasons game was released on the Nintendo Switch. However, fans figured A Wonderful Life was going to need to continue to carry them until after Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma at the earliest.

While there have been teasers of a new Story of Seasons game in the works, Marvelous took everyone by surprise during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct with news that doesn’t cover the currently-seen title, or Guardians of Azuma.

The surprise reveal that aired during the showcase is Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, a remake of the 2008 Nintendo DS classic. The unexpected surprise is delightful news for fans – especially because the wait for this reworked entry is unusually short.

An Adorable Remake Coming This Summer

Typically, Marvelous will tease projects like Grand Bazaar a year or more before release. Trailers will feature on showcases, teasers will be posted to social media. However, according to the trailer that aired on the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, fans can look forward to this adventure on August 27, 2025. Just months after the release of the new Rune Factory.

The remake gives the original Grand Bazaar a much-needed graphical update, and it appears many of the general mechanics have also seen a facelift. The 2008 edition suffered from a slightly bland farming routine and over-simplified mechanics. Likely due to the limitations of the DS, as well as the awkward time in the Marvelous/Natsume timeline. The companies would part ways in 2014, just a few short years after Grand Bazaar’s release.

While the main website is still fairly empty, the trailer confirmed that romance, farming, shop-keeping, festivals, and social interactions will all be present within the game. Additionally, the world and character models were shown in a variety of tasks, showing off crisp designs and colorful backdrops.

As a huge Story of Seasons fan, I have no words for how exciting this announcement is. With only a few months to wait, the end of my summer will be dedicated to farming, cooking, crafting, and selling in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, and I hope yours will be too!
