Square Enix has officially announced a new Life is Strange game reveal planned for January 20 on the series’ official YouTube channel, giving fans their first real look at what’s next for the long-running narrative adventure franchise.

There has been little official news for the series following the release of Double Exposure, and many have wondered what could be next for the franchise and characters that weren’t included in the most recent installment.

Early Leaks Hint at What the Next Game Could Be

Shared by the official Life is Strange Twitter account, the announcement follows recent speculation about the series’ future, with online chatter ramping up after new information surfaced through a game rating listing. While Square Enix has not fully detailed what will be shown yet, the date now gives fans a clear timeline for when the next major update is coming.

A now delisted rating found on the PEGI search database appears to reference an unreleased Life is Strange game titled Life is Strange: Reunion. According to the archived summary, players can expect a story focused on the return of fan favorites Max Caulfield and Chloe Price within a college environment.

The synopsis notes that Chloe arrives at Caledon University burdened by nightmares and unfamiliar memories, seeking Max’s help as they confront their shared past before a catastrophic fire engulfs the campus in three days.

Fans of Life is Strange may note that the alleged plot details sound very familiar, with the setup sharing clear parallels to the original Life is Strange. A school-based setting, a looming disaster on a countdown, and a story centered around Max and Chloe all echo the structure and emotional stakes that defined the first game.

Square Enix’s announcement also suggests the reveal is meant to clear up the speculation that’s been circulating online. With the publisher encouraging fans to “separate the real from the rumor,” the January 20 showcase should finally confirm what’s next for the series and which characters will be at the center of it.
