Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker Release Date Announcement Comes With a Carnival

After capturing the attention of JRPG fans worldwide following its release in August of 2023, Sea of Stars will step into the limelight again with the debut of its first free DLC, “Throes of the Watchmaker”. The game has remained a popular staple of the modern pixel genre, and players are very excited for the next chapter in the story.

The Throws of the Watchmaker DLC comes with a slew of new content, including new classes for Valare and Zale, a new character debut, and couch co-op for up to three players. The story will take place in a magical carnival, where there will be more combat than games and rides.

Sea of Stars Throes of the Watchmaker Free DLC Release Date

In a social media post shared by the official Sea of Stars account, the release date for the Throes of the Watchmaker DLC is May 20th, 2025. The free content will be released across all platforms on the same day, ensuring players have the chance to experience it on launch day.

It is important to note that the story expansion and new content are considered end-game and won’t be accessible until players reach the finish line of their playthrough. Because of this, it is a great time to jump in and wrap up any unfinished tasks before the release date.

The Throes of the Watchmaker DLC comes to Sea of Stars following the Dawn of Equinox update that released in November of 2024. This update introduced couch co-op for the main campaign, overhauled battle systems, added a speedrun mode, and revamped the prologue.

Fans who haven’t touched the game since release in 2023 may want to jump in and start a new save file to appreciate the new details, get a feel for the updated combat system, and get a look at the new cinematic bonus scene for “Paths on Water”.
