Here at Bonus Action, the majority of us love all things witchy. And yes, that includes our video games. Naturally, that means I jumped at the chance to check out Little Witch in the Woods when it finally released in 1.0 back in September 2025. But for me, any kind of cute, cozy pixel art game just begs to be played on the Switch. I’ve just never quite been able to kick back and relax on PC in quite the same way. Thankfully, me and my fellow witchy game enthusiasts are finally getting our wish this fall.
Developer Sunny Side Up recently confirmed that Little Witch in the Woods is finally releasing for the Nintendo Switch on September 16th. That’s just about exactly a year after it arrived on PC and TK, but hopefully, it’s going to be worth the wait. Fall is the perfect time to sink into a good cozy witchy game, and this one will be arriving on Switch just ahead of October and all things Halloween. Given that it’s looking unlikely we’ll have Witchbrook by then, it’s basically perfect timing.
Little Witch in the Woods Brings Cozy, Witchy Goodness to Nintendo Switch this September

Little Witch in the Woods spent quite a few years in Early Access before it finally made its big 1.0 debut on PC and Xbox. Since it hit 1.0 last year, the game has continued to receive regular hotfixes with quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. We even got a new, revamped opening to the game back in August of this year. Basically, the game just keeps getting better. And that means the version that arrives on Nintendo Switch in September should be pretty solid.
If you’ve yet to have the pleasure, Little Witch in the Woods is a story-driven life sim where you play as Allie, a young witch. Her work as an apprentice witch sees Ellie helping the local village with all manner of mundane and magical problems. That gives us a delightfully cozy, magical gameplay loop of gathering magical ingredients, brewing up potions, and, of course, fishing. There’s a whole pixel art world to explore using magic to uncover hidden treasures and secret paths. You can get a good sense of the vibes and sense of humor in the game’s original release trailer below:
When I played Little Witch in the Woods last year, I was instantly charmed. I haven’t had a chance to go back to it, and clearly, I’m going to have to start a new save ASAP so I can get a look at the brand-new opening chapters. That makes the game’s impending arrival on Switch perfect timing. As we head into fall here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s time to sink into cozy games and all things witchy. So, brand-new Little Witch in the Woods playthrough, here I come.
Little Witch in the Woods is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It costs $19.99 USD. It will officially arrive on the Nintendo Switch on September 16th and is available to wishlist in the Nintendo eShop now.
