Fans might not have to wait too much longer for more details on Kingdom Hearts 4, as the upcoming D23 will have a deep dive into the series. For the uninitiated, D23 is an annual conference where Disney showcases the many franchises it has under its massive umbrella and offers a look into the future of Marvel, Star Wars, and more.
This future includes Kingdom Hearts 4, the next installment of Disney and Square Enix’s epic JRPG series. It was announced way back in 2022, by way of a cryptic teaser trailer of Sora fighting a giant Heartless in a modern city after waking up in a strange world called Quadratum. Since then, new information has been scarce, at least until a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer was shown off during last month’s Nintendo Direct.
Kingdom Hearts Is Coming To D23 2026
Gamers could get another look at Kingdom Hearts 4 this fall, namely at the annual D23 event running between August 14 and August 16 in Anaheim, California. Included in the D23 program slate is Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts, a panel that will “journey through light and darkness” as Disney commemorates 25 years of the series. From the sound of it, this will be mostly a recap of the lore of Kingdom Hearts and the many Disney and Pixar worlds that Sora and his friends have explored throughout the series.
Of course, that isn’t to say that Kingdom Hearts 4 won’t be featured in the festivities, as it would be the perfect venue for a new teaser or world announcement (Zootopia, please). The program says that some of the creatives and voice actors behind Kingdom Hearts will be on hand, so at the very least, it should be a fun look into the making of the biggest crossover franchise this side of Super Smash Bros.
As for Kingdom Hearts 4, we have no release date yet, but the game has been confirmed for all modern systems – such as the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. All of the magic and Keyblade-wielding action is coming back, as well as a new “Scrap and Build” mechanic that Square Enix is keeping close to its chest at the moment.
