During Sony’s State of Play, Ember Lab revealed Kena: Scars of Kosmora, a follow-up to 2021’s Kena: Bridge of Spirits that’s headed to PS5 and PC in 2026.
This time around, Kena is no longer the wide-eyed newcomer we met in Bridge of Spirits. Ember Lab describes her as older and already renowned as a Spirit Guide, now using her gifts to help the living in addition to guiding spirits.
Scars Of Kosmora Sends Kena To A New Island
Kena: Scars of Kosmora was announced during the February 2026 PlayStation State of Play with a stunning trailer that delivered fans of the first game into a beautiful, colorful world. The graphics of Scars of Kosmora were a stark, saturated change of pace from the other titles announced during the showcase.
Kena’s journey takes her to Kosmora, a mysterious island with distinct regions, cultures, and a tragic past buried under the surface. On arrival, a powerful spirit shatters her staff, severing her connection to the spirits and her abilities. To survive, she must embrace Kosmora’s forgotten form of Spirit Guiding, using Alchemy to manipulate the power of the elements.
Alchemy, Elemental Companions, And Bigger Boss Fights
The big gameplay hook in Scars of Kosmora is a forgotten form of Spirit Guiding powered by Alchemy, letting Kena manipulate the elements in combat and exploration.
Ember Lab is also leaning harder into the companion side of the series with elemental spirit buddies that grow with Kena over time, unlocking new abilities as their bonds with the player strengthen, with each companion tied to a specific element.
Alongside the new Alchemy and companion systems, it also sounds like the sequel will keep the series’ core loop intact, with more strategic combat, elemental infusions, and epic boss fights highlighted as key parts of its expanded scope.
