Somehow, it’s already been a year since Supergiant Games released Hades II. The long-awaited sequel to their hit roguelike Hades impressed me in early access. And the full release remains the one and only game I’ve ever given a perfect review score. What can I say? It deserves it. The witchy god-like roguelike is, hands-down, one of the most polished and all-around satisfying games I’ve ever played. And today, the full 1.0 release is officially a whole year old. Naturally, Supergiant couldn’t let the occasion go by without a little fanfare.
Earlier this week, fan apparel site Fangamer announced a brand-new lineup of official Hades 2 merch to honor the game’s first birthday. On the day itself, Supergiant shared a message of gratitude for all the support fans have shown the studio’s first-ever sequel. But that’s not all. Today, Supergiant also unveiled a brand-new trailer for an upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary all about the making of Hades II.
Hades II Fans Can See How the Game Was Made In New Documentary Series
Following over a year in Early Access, Hades II got its full release on September 25th, 2025. Hades II was a big first for Supergiant Games, as the first true sequel the studio ever created. And if the review scores are any indication, they kind of nailed it. Now, as the game hits its first birthday, Supergiant is ready to share how they pulled it off. They’ve teamed up with NoClip to create a multi-episode documentary about the making of Hades II. Its title follows the tradition started with the Hades behind-the-scenes documentary, which was called Developing Hell. Soon, fans will get tons of juicy “making of” details in Developing Hell II. It will be released as a 6-episode series via NoClip.
The first episode of the documentary is available now for NoClip’s Patreon supporters, and is coming “real soon” for the rest of us. But for now, we’ve got a shiny new teaser trailer to hint at what to expect. From the looks of it, we can expect interviews with the development team, concept art from Hades 2, and more. And most importantly, it looks like we’ll get some insight into those catchy tunes performed by Scylla and the Sirens, too. You can check out the Developing Hell II mini-series trailer below:
If hearing the Hades II score again doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, I don’t know what will. This certainly has me itching to pick up my Switch 2 controller and go for a few more rounds as Melinoe. But if you’d rather just enjoy the soundtrack so more, you can also check out the Ballads of the Underworld orchestral performance, which Supergiant Games posted to their YouTube channel today in honor of the game’s anniversary.
