The release of the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 ruleset is just around the corner, but those who don’t want to wait will have the opportunity to get the Player’s Handbook several months early at Gen Con.
The 2024 D&D ruleset will revamp 5th Edition rules, making the game more accessible and enjoyable than ever. Guidelines will be updated to include options from recent sourcebooks, and the content will be expanded to meet a wider demographic of playstyles.
Gen Con 50th Anniversary Player’s Handbooks Are Better Than First Edition Copies
In a recent announcement on Twitter/X by Wizards of the Coast, a limited number of particularly special Player’s Handbooks will be available for purchase at Gen Con, giving those lucky enough to score one will get an early look at what updates are coming to the tabletop game.
The first printing of the D&D 2024 Player’s Handbook will feature a 50th anniversary gold foil logo, including both standard and alternate cover copies shipped to all stores and direct through D&D Beyond. The copies sold at Gen Con will be the only copies with the Gen Con 2024 bookplate.
How to Buy The Gen Con D&D 2024 Player’s Handbooks
Players attending Gen Con 2024 will find the Player’s Handbooks at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Northwest Concourse, in a shared sales table with the USPS D&D stamps that will also go on sale at the convention. It is important to note that copies can only be purchased by reserving a spot on the Gen Con event ticketing system.
The free, digital ticket will be labeled as “D&D 2024 Player’s Handbook Early Release Sale”. Only one ticket can be requested a day. Only ticket holders at the Gen Con convention will have the opportunity to purchase a copy.
The stand will be open during the dates and times below:
- August 1: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM EDT
- August 2/3/4: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
The Gen Con 2024 D&D Player’s Handbooks will cost $49.99 per copy, the same as a standard copy in the online shop or in physical gaming retail stores.
In addition to this exciting opportunity, the USPS will be selling its version of the 50th Anniversary Dungeons & Dragons stamp collection. The collection contains 10 stamps and will be available for purchase while supplies last.
The first core rulebook, the 2024 Player’s Handbook, will be released on September 17, 2024, and is available for pre-order on the official online store.
