As the wildfire situation in Southern California continues to develop, many people throughout the Los Angeles area are being impacted by the destruction. Local fire officials are doing their best to stave off the spread of several different fires, which are growing particularly fast due to the Santa Ana winds. In difficult times like these, many turn to our beloved stories and the communities that have built up around them for a bit of hope and support.
One such community is the Critical Role fandom, known affectionately as “Critters.” Fans of the podcast have gathered behind the cast and crew, who recently announced that they need to pause production due to the impacts of the wildfires.

As noted in a post on X, the Critical Role team is pausing their streaming plans this week, due to the direct impact that the fires are having on the cast and crew. At this time, they plan to resume their regular schedule on January 16th.
🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨

As the evolving fires in Los Angeles are directly impacting our cast and crew, we're taking a break from streaming this week with the intention of returning to Exandria next Thursday, January 16th.
In the meantime, the kindness of Critters like you has… pic.twitter.com/BvJzhUJsCj
We’re glad that the folks behind Critical Role are prioritizing their safety at this time, and hope that everyone impacted by the fires will stay safe as best they can.
As part of their message about delaying the stream, Critical Role also shared that they were able to make a $30K donation to the California Community Foundation’s Wildlife Recovery Fund. The funds for the donation come from contributions to the Critical Role Foundation, the official non-profit arm of Critical Role.
While money can’t repair the emotional toll of a terrible event like this, it can certainly help meet people’s basic needs. The California Community Foundation is focused on providing aid directly to wildfire survivors and first responders, helping to rebuild homes, and provide support services including mental health and direct financial assistance.
The post from Critical Role also includes links to donate to the Critical Role Foundation or directly to the CCF Wildlife Recovery Fund. For those in Los Angeles in need of resources, there’s also a link to the State of California’s official webpage, which offers updates on the fire and additional resources for those impacted.
In times like these, our fan communities show what happens when people come together to support one another. When fans come together, they can make amazing things happen, including support for the people impacted by natural disasters like the fires in Los Angeles.
