These days, it’s hard not to notice Amazon’s massive Prime Day sales. The marketing goes hard, and the deals often do too. While book and Kindle sales have always been a part of promotions like Prime Day, Amazon has never had a dedicated sale just about books – until now.
Recently, Amazon announced the first-ever Amazon Book Sale. This event is a sale centering on all the books and book-related things Amazon has to offer.

When is the Amazon Book Sale?
According to the Amazon blog post, it will officially take place from May 15 through May 20, 2024. However, much like Prime Day, the start and end dates are a little hazy, and some pre-sale promotions are already available if you know where to look.
Another important note is that discounts will be available to anyone shopping on the site, not just Prime members.
What We Know About Deals and Discounts
The Amazon Book Sale will include savings on print books, Kindle books, and Kindle devices. The website states that readers will save up to 50% on print best sellers and up to 80% on Kindle eBooks. This includes namedropping some BookTok favorites like Sarah J. Maas, which will feature in the sale.
While the details for the sale itself haven’t been fully revealed, Amazon has already launched some pre-sale deals that readers can shop early. These include savings on the Kindle Scribe, an e-reader and a notetaking tablet. There are also markdowns on books from popular authors like the aforementioned Sarah J. Maas and several celebrity memoirs like Rebel Wilson’s Rebel Rising.
If you search for Amazon Book Sale, it’s a bit tricky to find the pre-sale page. However, you can click into the pre-sales directly from the Amazon blog post about the event and browse what’s currently on offer in different categories using the buttons at the top of the page.

Since many readers use Kindle as their e-reader of choice, the chance to snag some of these titles at a discount will no doubt appeal to many book fans. Voracious readers can also save on the much-loved Kindle Unlimited service, which lets you read unlimited titles from a select library all for one monthly subscription price.
When the Amazon Book Sale officially starts on May 15, we will likely see many more deep discounts and bargains added to the website. If Prime Day is any indication, deals may change day-by-day throughout the event.
