Story of Seasons is a franchise I am always excited to see news from. When the surprise announcement for the Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar remake was given, that excitement immediately turned into curious hunger. After a hands-on preview with Grand Bazaar, I can now say that this cozy game is easily one of the best by Marvelous so far.
The original Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar is one of the last games to release before Natsume and Marvelous split ways. Releasing in 2008 on the Nintendo DS, the title struggles with ambitious gameplay hampered by wobbly graphics and an aging handheld system. Despite this, Grand Bazaar was popular among cozy gamers, especially for its unique sales system.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar takes everything that made the original game amazing and expands on it. Graphics have been overhauled for an adorable, vibrant experience, general mechanics have been streamlined, and the Nintendo Switch 2 runs the game like warm butter being spread on hot toast – smooth and satisfying. If Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life delighted you, Grand Bazaar holds the same amount of care and craftsmanship.
A Game Filled to the Brim With Content

During the first month of gameplay, players won’t find themselves fishing to kill time. Grand Bazaar is fast-paced, and every minute counts when prepping for sales on Saturday.
Animal care holds true to more recent games in the series. Players must feed, pet, and brush the animals to keep them healthy. They will also need to go outside, which means using the handbell, carrying, or pushing them at the start of the game.
Farming is a joy in Grand Bazaar thanks to the jump boost. By jumping, players can till, water, and harvest three tiles at a time right from the start. Every subsequent upgrade to tools increases this area that can be interacted with during the jump. This boost makes early farmcare much less of a timesink.
After getting the chores done, there is a whole town to explore, villagers to chat with and get to know, and foraging to complete. Once the Fishing Rod is unlocked, players can add fishing to their list of daily tasks. This will keep you more than busy, especially as the intricate systems for each option begin to unlock.
Selling Is Stressful But Addictive
I’ve always struggled a bit with shopkeeping sims. The stress of running a shop, keeping it stocked, and constantly worrying about having enough funds to keep the shelves full is a lot when playing a cozy game.
However, Grand Bazaar does the shopkeeping system perfectly. Only selling once a week gives players time to gather up their wares and really think about what they’d like to put out. The mini-game of selling is fast-paced and satisfying, and the ability to lure customers in with spotlit goods and your handbell is perfect.
A Beautiful World to Explore
I may have mentioned that Grand Bazaar‘s art has been reworked in the updated title. However, it is hard to explain how breathtaking the game is. The colors are sharp and vibrant, details on plants and animals are striking, and the world comes to life on the screen of the Nintendo Switch.
I have spent more than a little bit of time standing in the grazing pasture above the farm, mesmerized by the sway of the grass and the way the sunlight catches the leaves. There is something truly atmospheric about Grand Bazaar that gives it a particularly magical air.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar launches on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam on August 27, 2025. From what we have seen so far, cozy gamers are in for a real treat. The level of detail and complexity in Grand Bazaar will have you glued to the screen as you advance your shop and build your farm.
