Tomodachi Life Gives Danmei Fans the Heaven Official’s Blessing Video Game They’ve Been Waiting For

If there is one thing Danmei fans are starved of, it’s video game adaptations. Despite Danmei’s surging popularity, the content presented in the stories has remained largely in novel or graphic novel form, with a select few stories adapted to Manhua. However, the release of Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has brought popular couples to the Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s even better than trying to recreate them in The Sims.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has a shockingly detailed character creator. While the gameplay loop can be a bit repetitive, fans from hundreds of fandoms have used the newest Nintendo arrival to recreate some of their favorite characters and control their lives.

Of these, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng from Heaven Official’s Blessing have been particularly popular. Players have flocked to social media to share video clips of the two flirting, sharing shockingly in-character lines, and falling in love across dozens of different playthroughs.

Hualian is Forever, And Tomodachi Life Proves It

In a social media post shared by Jaspar, the Danmei fan has shared their own recreations of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, complete with adorable hairstyles and Xia Lian’s little hair bun. In the post, Jaspar states, “this game was worth every penny actually.”

The video attached to the clip shows Xie Lian and Hua Cheng married and at “Soulmate” status in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. They are actively engaging in a bit of sparring, with Hua Cheng seemingly giving the fight so Xie Lian can win.

Players in the comments were blown away, with one stating, “Like literally you’re making me want to get the game so I can make my own hualian.” Another jumped in, adding, “Living the canon experience. My envy knows no bounds.”

Jaspar has continued to post adorable shots of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng on their feed, showcasing interactions, outfits, and key romantic moments.

While the game does have a few rocky patches, there is no doubt that it will keep Danmei fans busy well into the foreseeable future. The opportunity to make favorite couples and write stories with them in the Tomodachi Life universe is too fun to pass up. With so many iconic duos to create, there are dozens of hours’ worth of romantic interactions to capture and share.
