Developers Zockrates Laboratories have released a new trailer for their upcoming action-adventure title, Ruffy and the Riverside, showcasing the game’s unique gameplay and abilities, as well as its stunning visuals.
The retro-inspired yet contemporary take on the genre is sure to excite fans with its mixture of classic gameplay involving collectibles, varied levels and puzzles, and a wealth of characters to meet. With this newest trailer, players get their best look at what to expect before its release next year.
New Ruffy and the Riveside Trailer Highlights Plentiful Gameplay Varitey
Revealed during The Mix 2024 Showcase, Ruffy and the Riverside is an upcoming indie that looks to combine the usual collectathon of yesteryear while adding plenty of new ideas into the mix, and the latest trailer showcases some of what players can expect.
The highlight of the trailer is the Swap ability, which allows Ruffy to copy the texture of everything in the world and paste it to change their behavior. The trailer shows Ruffy copying ice and using it on the sea, turning it into a massive icy path to walk across, as well as taking vines and using them on a waterfall, making it climbable to reach new heights.
That is not all that was shown, as players will get to solve puzzles, fight bosses, and meet quirky characters, all in a whole inspired by the Mode 7 graphic style found on the SNES, giving it a distinct look coupled with a colorful art style, ticking all the boxes of both nostalgia and creativity.
Ruffy and the Riverside is set to release in Q1 2025 and will be available on Steam, Switch, PS5, and Xbox, so no matter the platform, everyone can try this delightfully wicked-looking indie.
