The Pokémon Legends: Z-A demo is currently live at the 2025 World Championships, and important information about the full map has been shared by streamers and YouTubers online. The first look at the full map reveals a much bigger world than fans initially expected.
When Pokémon Legends: Z-A was first announced, players were curious to know how much of the Kalos region would be included in the new game. When it was revealed that the entire game would take place only inside of Lumiose City, many were unsure how a whole game could be crammed into one small sport on an otherwise large world map.
While early trailers have shown a creative use of the futuristic Lumiose, anxiety about the size of the game has remained a constant for many, with fans vocalizing concerns on social media.
Now, thanks to early demo gameplay from the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, fans finally have the full map of Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s playable area.
Not All of Kalos, But Still Big
According to clips shared by PLDHNet on Twitter taken from a Pokémon Legends: Z-A demo video shared by AustinJohnPlays, the full map of Lumiose City has been revealed.
The images of the map show the Pokémon Research Center as a point of reference at the bottom of the large, circular map. The point is very small in comparison to the unexplored space of the city.
While the map is much larger than many expected, anxiety about the amount of space to explore remains high. Many are confused at the step back from open-world spaces that were present in Legends: Arceus and Scarlet & Violet. Others have remained frustrated at locking players in one part of an otherwise vast and interesting region. Kalos was well-loved by players, with X&Y sporting a loyal and invested fanbase.
Others are hopeful that this is only the first layer of the world, and that there might also be sewers or other maps that must be discovered in order to expand the playable space.
Many players have also voiced concerns that the game could end up feeling one-note without the richness of changing biomes and towns to keep things interesting. If Pokémon just spawn in alleys or designated parks, it could take away from the experience of seeing them in their natural habitats.
While this map reveals likely offers players a complete look at the overarching world of Lumiose City, it is very likely that the Demo does not include the more complex layers of gameplay that will be held until release day. The Pokémon Company is known for stringing players along with teasers and tastes of upcoming titles. It is almost guaranteed that there is a great deal more content that will be added to this base map as the story progresses.
With just a few months left until the October 16, 2025, release date, fans won’t have much longer to wait until they can jump in and explore Pokémon Legends: Z-A themselves.
