Pathea, the developer behind the beloved My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, has announced the third game in its cozy life sim series: My Time at Evershine. The game evolves the franchise, taking it in a new direction while retaining every element that makes these games so incredibly enjoyable to digital potato farmers.
As Pathea has done with previous titles, My Time at Evershine will have a project on Kickstarter to raise funds for development and give fans a chance to pick up some exclusive rewards for their support. It goes live on September 24, 2024, but you can sign up to be notified of its launch right now.
A settlement caught in the middle
The reveal trailer for My Time at Evershine does a great job of showing off where this entry is taking things. The new art direction makes characters look more realistic and, if I’m honest, got me a little flustered. I’ve never crushed on farmers with massive muscles, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.
Pathea wants to put more of a focus on a story-driven campaign in this title that blends RPG elements with life sim activities to create a game with a wider appeal. The story sees you build up a settlement by recruiting a colorful cast of characters from the lands between the Duvos Empire and the Alliance of Free Cities.
You see, the Duvos Empire laid claim to a region, the Orzu Ruins if you must know, and the Alliance of Free Cities is understandably worried that this regime is going to get a little too close for comfort. That’s where you come in. Your settlement is between these two major powers and must be fortified so it can withstand an attack from any approaching enemies.

Of course, it’s not all war games. Settlements take time to build and loads of micro-management, which My Time at Evershine has in spades. You’ll recruit strangers with rich histories who just want to settle down somewhere calm and set them to work building a shed or running the post office.
You can even set three settlers as your followers at any one time, but you’ll need to manage their stats and make sure they don’t pass out while on the job. They’re not as tough as your muscly farmer main character after all. This plays into the game’s romance system, which offers 8-10 romanceable characters.
While you might just want to hit on your favorite NPC all day, the story boasts 40+ hours of content to work through. I imagine a good chunk of that will be setting up your settlement, farming, and doing a few base-building bits and pieces.

However, there’s definitely a vibe that this installment is aiming to capture more of that mainstream audience. I don’t know how the combat will work, but being in the middle of two opposing powers that don’t particularly like each other doesn’t sound massively peaceful to me.
I’m excited to see where Pathea takes the series with My Time at Evershine. It certainly sounds like it has a lot of potential, but we’ll know more once the Kickstarter goes live. Based on how the last two games have performed on the platform, I’d expect to see this one hit its funding goal pretty quickly on launch day.
