After years of waiting, begging, and pleading, fans finally have an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong following a special announcement that aired right at the start of Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live.
The Opening Night Live showcase kicked off right from the start with Silksong information, surprising gamers already excited by the word that a special announcement and information for the game is planned to air on August 21 at 7:30 AM PT via a special livestream.
However, the tidbit of info dropped by Geoff Keighley might be even more exciting than the livestream, as the Game Awards creator has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is going to release in 2025.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is No Longer a Lost Game
During Keighley’s statement, he explained that Hollow Knight: Silksong will release before the end of 2025. He also stated that a Demo will be available in the coming days on specific platforms.
The game was originally announced in 2019 and has offered only small confirmations about continued development progress for the past six years.
Early in 2025, rumors began to circulate that the game was doomed to be cancelled or that it had already been trashed. Despite this, Team Cherry developers came out and assured fans that the game was still in development, and that news would be coming as soon as they were able to share it.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently the most wishlisted game ever on Steam, with hype generated by the critical success of the studio’s first installment in the franchise. Hollow Knight has maintained a Overwhelmingly Positive score out of hundreds of thousands of reviews, and has been applauded for it’s beautiful art direction, addictive gameplay, and emotionally intense storyline.
While more information about the demo and gameplay will be shared via the livestream on August 21, the news that a demo is ready to play, and that the game will be out within just a few months, is huge news for those who have been waiting for any sort of update.
With unfathomable hype to live up to, only time will tell of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be the sequel everyone has been hoping for, and if it will be worth the six-year wait to play once it’s been released.
