After a few years of eager anticipation and hope, the news finally broke today that Games Workshop and Amazon have finalized their deal to produce a series of projects set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
The deal will see multiple projects be produced for Amazon, including TV and movies, with actor Henry Cavill, a known Games Workshop fan and player, starring and executive producing the universe.

The news comes via Henry Cavill himself, who shared on his Instagram that the universe would be going ahead, with a rather heartfelt image and message to accompany the great news.
In the post, Cavill can be seen outside “The Little Shop”, the first place he ever brought Warhammer 30 years ago, and along with that, shared his excitement for the project’s future, saying “My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world.” He added, “Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop.”
Games Workshop has also shared a post on the announcement on Twitter/X, echoing Cavill’s excitement and giving some very sparse details, saying that the first project is going into “development proper,” with scripts being worked on now. Outside of that, little else is known about what to expect from this new universe.
In addition to this, the Investor Relations website also had a little extra tidbit fans will be excited about, as along with Warhammer 40K, Amazon will have “equivalent rights” to the Warhammer Fantasy universe “following the release of any initial Warhammer 40,000 production.” What that means is, that once the ball is rolling on Warhammer 40K, there is a chance that Warhammer Fantasy will hit the screen too!
With this announcement, fans can now look forward to the long wait for the first project to see the light of day, but with such an avid fan as Henry Cavill at the helm, many feel confident the project will be faithful to the source material, something Cavill himself has been vocal about.
