The caves are filled with treasures in Moonlight Peaks, and the elusive Rose Quartz is a prize for crafting and gift-giving. This sparkly, pink gemstone is found in the second major cave system outside of town and requires a few tool upgrades before it can be accessed.
Rose Quartz is used in many different quests and crafting recipes, specifically after it has been broken down into a power using the Enchanted Mortar, which is unlocked when you begin tinkering with magic. Surprisingly, the location of the Rose Quartz can be accessed early if you prioritize upgrades to your pickaxe.
In this guide, we tackle everything to know about accessing Rose Quartz and mining it from caves in Moonlight Peaks.
Where to Find Rose Quartz in Moonlight Peaks
Rose Quartz can be mined in the Crystal Cave to the left of Fiona’s home. Inside the cave, the Rose Quartz nodes spawn generously, but the cave entrance is blocked by a giant boulder when you first start the game.
To deal with the boulder, you will need to upgrade your Pickaxe to at least Copper Level. To do this, you will need to complete the following:
- Unlock the Misty Shores Biome by completing the “A Bridge Too Far” quest between Orlock and Fiona during Spring Year 1.
- Access the Cave of Echoes to begin mining Copper Ore
- Speak with Ridge to upgrade the Pickaxe for 1,000G, three Copper Bars, and a Rusty Pickaxe.
Once you have the Copper Pickaxe, return to Crystal Cave and destroy the boulder blocking the entrance. You will now be able to come and go whenever you want.
How to Mine Rose Quartz in Moonlight Peaks
To mine Rose Quartz, you will need an Iron Pickaxe or better. To get this upgrade, return to the Cave of Echoes and mine some Iron Ore with your Copper Pickaxe. You will then need to return to Ridge at the Howling Hammer for another Pickaxe upgrade.
The Iron Pickaxe upgrade requires 4,000G, 4 Iron Bars, and the Copper Pickaxe. Once you have the upgrade, head back to the Crystal Cave and start smashing the pink Rose Quartz Crystal nodes. These will drop raw Rose Quartz.
Rose Quartz is an excellent gift for characters like Orlock. It can also be placed in the Enchanted Mortar to create Quartz Dust. Each pile of dust requires one Rose Quartz stone.
Once you have unlocked the Crystal Cave, other gemstones and treasures can be found in the tunnels and chambers of the cavern. Each of these items is important in Moonlight Peaks, so it is a good idea to hold onto them instead of selling them when first exploring the area.
