When first building a character in Moonlight Peaks, there are dozens of options for hairstyle, hair color, makeup, and extra details. However, once you leave the creator menu, switching up character features can be surprisingly confusing. I was at a complete loss for weeks after realizing I wanted to change hairstyles, and couldn’t figure out where the hair salon might be.
As it turns out, changing your hairstyle and color isn’t as simple as visiting the barber. You are going to need a magical potion, and it won’t come cheap. In this guide, we will go over how to change up your appearance in Moonlight Peaks and where to get the appearance-changing potion.
How to Change Your Character’s Hair in Moonlight Peaks

To change up hairstyles and color, you will need to visit Sabrina’s shop, the Webb of Wonders, and purchase the Alter Ego Elixir. This special potion will bump you back into the character customization screen. The potion will cost 1,300 G and can only be used once. The Alter Ego potion is available from the start of the game, but we recommend holding off on purchasing it until gold is a bit less scarce.
This potion grants the ability to change your hairstyle, hair color, skin tone, eye color, eyebrow shape, makeup style, facial details, and eyebrow color. It doesn’t offer any accessories or clothing changes.
Eventually, you will be able to brew the Alter Ego Elixir yourself instead of buying it. This happens later in the game after completing a quest with Fiona, where you fix a broken cauldron. Once the cauldron is repaired, you will unlock potion-making. The first recipe you receive from Fiona is the Alter Ego Elixir, which requires these ingredients:
- 1 Quartz Dust
- 1 Nightshade Powder
- 1 Honey
How to Change Clothes in Moonlight Peaks

More subtle changes to your appearance, like changing clothes, can be done at any full-length mirror. There is a mirror in your home that can be used at any time, and a mirror at Aras’ clothing store, Third Eye Threads. When using the mirror to change clothes, you will only have access to the items you have purchased or made.
This menu will also allow you to alter your makeup, but no further details, like freckles.
Clothing can be changed at any time of day, and certain events will encourage you to dress up for a theme or mood. This adds some extra excitement to buying a variety of clothing from Aras.
Still here? Good.
