If you’re tired of walking from the Narrows to The Eastern Road before daylight runs out in Fields of Mistria, then the game’s November update has a new unlock for you: Mounts.
You can now zoom from one corner of the map to the other – say, from the Mines to your farm before the clock hits 2:00 AM. and you pass out. That said, mounts aren’t just handed to you, to unlock them, you’ll have to complete a specific quest in the game.
How to Unlock Mounts in Fields of Mistria
To unlock mounts, you must complete a quest called Find the Weathervane in Fields of Mistria.
How to Start Find the Weathervane
This quest starts automatically after you complete “Upgrade the Barn“, but you must first go to sleep.
- If you’re a returning player from the 1.0 release and are all caught up on your main quests, just go to sleep.
- If you’re a new player, complete all main quests until you’re asked to collect materials and gold for Hayden’s barn. Upon completing this quest, go to sleep.
First thing in the morning, you’ll get a visit from Hayden, who lets you know there was a windstorm last night that caused him to lose the Weathervane.
Since the wind was blowing northwest, he bets it ended up somewhere in the Narrows.
Weathervane Location
You can find the Weathervane in the northwest corner of The Narrows. Walk across the bridge northwest to your house and make your way past the museum to the west. When you spot the river, swim across it to reach the Weathervane.
You’ll notice there’s a new statue here; offer it 100 Essence to unlock your first mount in Fields of Mistria.
A new button appears on your screen, allowing you to summon your mount whenever you want.
All Mount upgrades
You can upgrade your mounts by donating Essence to The Horse statue in The Narrows. Here’s every upgrade and its perks:
- Horsepower: Allows Mistmare to run 10% faster for 200 Essence.
- Harvest Horse: Allows Mistmare to harvest crops or forage items when they run over them for 190 Essence.
- Nice Ride: You can ride large animals, like Alpacas and Cows, at 5 hearts. Their appearance can also be modified.
Can You Get More Mounts?
With the Nice Ride skill upgrade, other big animals from your farm become available to mount, as long as you have five hearts.
You can even customize their appearance by opening the pause menu and heading to the animals tab. Give them a cute hat to match your outfit!
