It is time to jump into the next chapter of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The new DLC, which was released worldwide on December 10, 2025, is now available for all players, but there are a few things that need to be done before you can leap into the next wild story in Lumiose City.
The Mega Dimensions DLC is a paid expansion, and players will need to purchase it for $29.99 from the Nintendo eShop in order to access its contents. Pre-ordered copies have already been downloaded, so the game will launch with the DLC now that it has been unlocked. Those who purchase it after release will need to wait for the additional content to download before playing.
Once it is purchased, you can start your expanded adventure alongside the characters from the base game.
Do You Need To Finish Pokémon Legends: Z-A To Play The Mega Dimensions DLC?
Yes, you must complete the main storyline through to the credits in order to access the content added in Mega Dimensions. The new content is set at a much higher level than previous games, requiring players to have already completed the primary challenges of the base game in order to keep up.
The story of the DLC seems to continue some of the plot points that were originally set up in Legends: Z-A, while introducing characters like Hoopa and Korrina. However, details on the overarching story before launch have been slim.
How to Begin the Mega Dimension DLC in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
To start the DLC, all you need to do is finish the main story, and then ensure that your game is currently playing on the most recent update. Open the game, and you should immediately receive a phone call on the Rotom Phone.
Like with most important quests in the base game, you will be told to head to Hotel Z. Something new seems to be happening in Lumiose City, and you are, as usual, the only person who can possibly do anything about it.
Head to the hotel and once inside, take the elevator up to the roof. Here, you will meet Ansha, the mysterious young girl who seems to look a lot like the Kalos region’s former Champion, Diantha. While her backstory is a mystery, it seems she is the catalyst for a strange series of events that will turn Lumiose City on its head.
Once you have spoken to Ansha, you will have officially started the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimensions DLC.
