How to Upgrade Hayden’s Shop
In order to unlock Alpaca, Horses, Sheep, Rabbits, Ducks, and Capybara, you will need to complete the Upgrade Hatyden’s Barn quest. This is a story quest and part of the main series of plot points for the game.
To do this, complete up to “Restocking Mistria’s Food Reserves 2”, and then speak to Adeline. The quest will cost:
- 4,000 T
- 400 Wood
- 500 Stone
- 8 Iron Ingots
Once completed, Hayden’s livestock offerings will be fully expanded.
How to Breed Animals in Fields of Mistria

To breed in Fields of Mistria, you will need a female and male of the species. You can buy your starting animals from Hayden’s Shop, and then you will need to raise them to heart level two before they can be paired.
Fields of Mistria has introduced a more complex system of breeding than Stardew Valley, taking inspiration from titles like Story of Seasons. Because of this, you will need to purchase items to breed your animals, including your chickens.
These “treats” are purchased at Hayden’s Shop. You will need to buy the treat that corresponds with the species you are breeding. Purchase two, and give one to the male and female you would like to breed.
Breeding For Animal Tier Levels in Fields of Mistria
In Fields of Mistria, players can breed their animals together to get different rarities. Currently, there are six rarity tiers, with the tier one animals purchased directly from Hayden.
To obtain the next tier, you need to pair two of the previous tier together. For example:
- Tier 1 x Tier 1 = Tier 2
- Tier 2 x Tier 2 = Tier 3
- Tier 3 x Tier 3 = Tier 4
- Tier 4 x Tier 4 = Tier 5
To get Tier 6, you’ll need to breed Tier 5 x Tier 5, but the results will be different depending on the season the animals are bred in.
It is important to note that two animals from different tiers can be bred together, but they won’t produce the next tier up. For example, a Tier 1 x Tier 2 breeding pair will never produce a Tier 3. However, there is a small chance of producing another Tier 2. Because of this, it is best to work on pairing the same tiers together for progression.
