X-Men fans can now mark their calendars for September 15, as Insomniac has just confirmed the official release date for Marvel’s Wolverine. Set in the same universe as the excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man games, Marvel’s Wolverine will follow the ever-popular mutant hero as he embarks on a new journey filled with mayhem and dark secrets.
This journey was first announced way back in the summer of 2021, but it wouldn’t be until late last year that Insomniac set a Fall 2026 release window for Marvel’s Wolverine. Said announcement came with an exciting trailer showcasing the game’s darker story and more violent combat, as well as classic characters like Mystique and Omega Red.
Marvel’s Wolverine Releases On September 15 For PS5
In a recent YouTube trailer, Insomniac Games provided a more specific release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, which will launch as a PlayStation 5 exclusive on September 15, 2026.
Insomniac’s Marvel-based superhero titles have all been critical and commercial successes so far, with the most recent being Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2023. As I mentioned before, Marvel’s Wolverine promises to be a much more visceral experience than any of Spidey’s outings, with Logan slashing through enemies using his legendary Adamantium claws and bloodshed galore.
Not much is yet known about Marvel’s Wolverine in terms of story, but it has been confirmed that Logan will visit the lawless island of Madripoor and battle the mutant-hunting Sentinel robots at some point. The previous Marvel’s Wolverine trailer also highlighted multiple costumes and even what looks like a motorcycle sequence to go with all the Adamantium rage.
In the meantime, Marvel fans with a PS5 can look forward to the release of Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15. Logan and his fellow X-Men have many video game appearances under their belts, but if Marvel’s Wolverine is anything like Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles or 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine tie-in game, we might have a new contender for the greatest one to feature the gruff-yet-noble mutant hero yet.
